Guys, we have a team to be proud of. This isn't your CPJ gimmicky embarrassment to the state team. This is something to be excited about!

Ok...so the Covid year isn't our Natty year. What CGC has done in barely over a year is nothing short of amazing. He is turning the 404 old gold and navy! Ppl drive by GT and think "I could root for them" now instead of "I could bully them!"

Guys....we aren't back....yet, but CGC will take us back to the glory days of Boss Ross!

I balk at saying we still control our destiny to the Natty, but it would be close with a win over #1 CU.

What were we talking about again? Oh, yeah, a weakly disguised shot at the previous coaching staff by someone who did not receive the required amount of Adidas bling delivered via Federal Express signature required.

Keep checking that mailbox, it will come someday maybe.

At least we took a shot against a ranked opponent, which will pay off in the form of quality playing experience for the young players. We could have padded the record this season by keeping Gardner Webb on the schedule, like the rest of the ACC did with their one OOC game. It also serves as a reality check coming off the FSU win, so the team is not going to be overconfident with any team left on the schedule.

Game of the year for me. Let's get one v. Duke. We are going to shut them out of good Atlanta talent. Their solid run is coming to an end IMO.
 
Some of the good stuff (not good stuff has been covered)

  • Sims can hit a guy in the chest in stride on a regular basis. 9 different receivers, 6 with >1 reception.
  • The defense allowed zero points in a stretch that went: failed onsides kick (D forced turnover on downs) -> Tech fumble (interception) -> Tech 3-and-out (4 plays and UCF punt) -> Tech punt (D forced turnover on downs). This is without a lot of guys up front.
  • Gibbs, Griffin, and Smith didn't miss a beat (4.4, 5.5, and 7.0 yards per carry)
  • Harvin III looked back to normal / Ray Guy level
  • Offensive Line playing well. 36 pass attempts, zero sacks. Lots of running lanes up the middle and good edge blocking on outside runs too.
  • Jared Ivey got a QB hurry forcing an incompletion on 4th down.
  • Charlie Thomas was disruptive.
 
mostly sold. our talent is better and we hung for 3 qtrs. depth may still be an issue this year, especially against top twenty type talent. another year of cruitin should solve most of that. sold on the cruitin and heading the right direction parts. that said....

not 100% sold on offensive scheme. used to be able to 'win with less' as we knew we could beat them w/scheme on O. hasn't necessarily been proven to me yet that we can out-scheme em on O. get our playmakers loose and yep, we'll be good on O. my jury is still out. (but you can't see it from there)

almost 50 given up doesn't bother me a bit yet. it was 28 after 3qtrs and miscues led to a bunch more. we were in a bad scheduling spot, schemed all year for FSU on D and then had UCF coming in with an offseason to prep for us. was a bad matchup due to schedule but so be it. also, people need to quit whining about scheduling them. STFU and go after em all, we should never duck anyone! Anyone mad about scheduling UCF is a Vag! (note: i didn't say Vad)
