Refs are doing everything to keep ND in the game.

The PI at the end of the first half was definite BS. Calvin could never have caught that pass. Then, the "helmet-to-helmet" reared his head again.

Oh well, the more punishment for the ND QB. Go Jackets!

Haha. Do you really think that wasn't a late hit? They showed two replays of it, it clearly was. This has been a very clean game, the refs aren't making much of an impact at all. Also, convenient you ignore them throwing an ND player out of the game in your analysis.

Edit: Just to clarify, I know the call was helmet-to-helmet...but it was also clearly late.

The helmet-to-helmet call was laughable, and while there was contact, IMO even calling that a late hit is weak. I also thought the pass interference call before that was bogus. All things considered, though, i've been pleased with the officiating.

Yea, the Priest will givem Hell if they dont help the Fish.

I wouldn't call it an obviously bad call, but the late hit call was pretty marginal. Now, the really bad call was the PI call at the end of the first half. That was an uncatchable ball if I ever saw one.

I think the "helmet-to-helmet" is what sets people off. It was almost as if the ref added HTH to provoke GT fans. Kind of a 'we threw their guy out of the game, so I'm throwing this in to help even things out'. I mean really do you think the replay clearly showed HTH?

Yeah, like other people said it was a marginal call, but it was definitely helmet-to-helmet if you wanted to call it. Personally I think it is a retarded rule to begin with. But as that HTH sets off fans, this thread title sets me off...even when we are winning handily people blame the refs. It just ticks me off, because no one really has a vendetta against us and all of these threads just disrespect the generally great job refereeing crews do. It's also nothing but excuse making...when we lose we blame the refs, when we win...well, normally we just appreciate how well our team as done, but apparently now we also blame the refs.

I have to agree that I was surprised to see a thread talking about the refs. I thought the game was well officiated.

Didn't mean to provoke such a reaction. I posted at the peak of my drunkenness during the game and probably went too far in a borderline call against us.

I do think that prestigious teams get a slight benefit of the doubt, like how Duke and UNC get questionable calls in basketball. But that's another discussion for another day.

That we can agree on. Like others have said, the refs were actually pretty fair today. I, for one, was shocked. Then again, I stuck to only 2 Sam Adams during the game.

Helmet to helmet, late hit.....definitely. Uncatchable pass on pass interference.......yeah, probably. But I thought it was very well officiated. I'll worry about criticizing the refs more when we don't win by 30.

There were two times last year when I thought refs were trying to influence the outcome of the game. The first was last year's ND game, the second more obvious time was the fourth quarter of the VT game. I have a hard time believing the end of the VT game was simply wretched officiating. Today's officiating was pretty even in my opinion, if I was scoring the officals today I'd probably give them a B+ or higher.
