Things can always be worse, but a pessimist can always fall back on their self righteous proclamation of I told you this wa going to be bad.

Every pessemist I know is the self righteous "I told you so" variety. I don't think I know any true pessemist that really feels as if nothing good will ever happen.

I agree. The most annoying thing about a pessimist is the delight they take in saying I told you so. Hardly ever is anything accomplished by them. If things happen to be going well they are always giving everybody the ominous warning of it could all go wrong at any time.

Damn near impossible to not win 4 per year. Took a special kind of stooge. We found him.

I get the wait and see approach, but it didn’t work with The Great Clown Show. It was apparent very early that he was clueless and not fit to be a head coach. His mediocre years at Temple made sense, in retrospect. He sold a lot of us on the rebuild/time aspect of the job, which isn’t the landscape in college football now.

After what happened with the Clown, you would think that people would temper their expectations for Key. But that hasn’t happened. He is clearly better than the Clown, but that is honestly all we know (and it doesn’t say much). We will know a lot by mid-season this year. We don’t need 2+ seasons to know. Unfortunately, being close to 0.500 is all some of our fans strive for (despite being in a weak conference). A losing season this year would be a failure. That’s why they refer to it as a losing season.

Vegas is predicting what? 4 wins? In a lackluster ACC, Tech should at least win half their games most years. Anything less than 6 wins is disappointing. I agree Key is a breath of fresh air compared to coach clown but that is a very low bar to clear.
