Can't really buy that reasoning given the season we had last year. It's not like we got lucky to win all those games; in the second half of the season, he was running one of the most effective offenses I've ever seen, at Tech or otherwise.

He is saying JT looked demoralized most of the year, which is true. Like in some sports there are times when a guy gets beat up and can't come back and be the person they were before. I don't know if this is a case of it but Jerry is a pretty keen observer most of the time.

Yeah, I don't get where people are suddenly thinking that 2014 didn't happen. We were really good in 2014 and just flat out dominant on the offensive line. JT's reads and passes were a lot easier when he didn't have a defender immediately breathing down his neck.

We'll see if he responds but I'm giving JT the benefit of the doubt. This offseason will make him or break him. Humility is a tough thing to come to terms but I think he comes back better.
 
Yep and they put a no contact jersey on him during fall camp. I think that took his edge away. You got to go hard or go home in this game.

I would give Justin a solid A for his play in 2014. I would give him a shaky C for his play in 2015.. A lot of that is the supporting cast - all of us do our jobs better when surrounded by good people. But, there were times he made the wrong reads, times he seemed hesitant, times the throws weren't accurate, times he needed to make the best of a bad situation rather than trying to make something out of nothing and taking huge losses, and times his demeanor seemed discouraged, if not pouting.

Now he has one more chance. If he earns an A in 2016 he will have enjoyed a fine career. He has to go to work on his strength, quickness, throwing, and demeanor. (I won't say the attitude was bad, but the demeanor was not what you want from your QB and offense's leader.)

No one can take his huge success in '14 away from him. He played his position extremely well in his first year as a starter. But, you can't completely blame his play on others this year. He has simply given us one great year and one slightly below average year as a starter so far. Here's hoping for a bounce back year next season.
 
Wouldn't be surprised to hear this offseason that he was playing through some pretty serious pain the last few games. Think back even to the 60 yard TD run against FSU- is that the same kid we've seen the past few games? I don't think so. I think he was hurt

He's been playing with a bum shoulder, ankle, and one other issue since notre dame and continually getting worse.

Yeah, I mean, I don't know how you know those specifics but I totally believe you. You can just watch him and see the difference between now and last year. There have been flashes for sure, in nearly every game. Still, he's not the same.

But he also isn't done, and I'm thankful for that

The O-line really let him down this year. Because they could not hold their blocks or block at all for that matter, he continued to get sacked and injured and had no time to do anything,always having to run from someone. No QB can perform under those circumstances. He's a tough kid. He continued to play hurt and he will be a better man for and be better next year if our O-line does their job.

This!

Hence my post about posters who have never played. No offense to Jerry, but to write off JT as damaged goods is ignert (having played or not). If my QB was not troubled by the losing, I would want him gone. Winners play with injuries. Thomas did just that.
 
JT5 isn't the first qb to hit a 'Sophomore Swoon'. He plays with heart and should bounce back.

But he didn't do our OL any favors with his poor footwork. He needs to step up into the pocket. He has improved at throwing the ball away, but still took to many deep sacks by fading backwards.

If Tim Byerly was available, I don't think Justin Thomas would have played as much as he did. Poor kid looked really beat up.
