Replacement for Brandon Gaudin?

Most important thing to me is continuity. I don't blame Brandon from going, but I'd like to get somebody for whom the chances are higher he'll stick ariund longer. Maybe has young kids? Southern roots? Something.
I hear ya. It's just harder to do now. TV is such a bigger market with a lot more $. The good ones are going to move on sooner or later, unless they feel that TV is not their thing.

I hate this personally. I'm a huge radio fan. I listen to games on the radio. Prefer it a lot of times even when they're on tv.

The players change every few years, why shouldn't the announcers? Heck, some people want to change football coaches every few years.

I think GTTerrific's point is about the brand. Having a "voice" to associate a school with is very powerful. We had this to some extent with Brandon, and even more with Wes, but would be awesome to have someone here 20+ years a la Al Ciraldo.

Yeah I get that. Just not sure it is that realistic any more. Like others have said, I think Randy Waters would be awesome. He loves GT and clearly isn't going anywhere.

I don't disagree. It's certainly a challenge to get a guy who will stay long term. The only issue with Brandon is that we was too good. Obviously a good problem to have.

Really like the Waters idea. Clearly loyal to GT and a known entity, at least in the Southeast.

How long would Waters stick around though? The guy is 65 years old.

I know Chip and he would be thrilled if his (step) brother got our job. His rantings on Tech are mostly in jest. Typical trash talking.
Josh is actually very good and would love to come back home. Not a UGAg grad, either, which is helpful.

meh... brandon was just milque-toast enough to be widely applicable to multiple mediums. typically the guys that end up doing national broadcasts, or certainly something like voicing a video game, are either a big name with a distinct recognizable voice (al michaels, john madden, howard cosell) or guys who are kinda bland, non-regional accents, and adaptable to blending in with a more popular color guy.

I know that sounds harsh and I'm not really hating on Brandon. I thought did a pretty good job, people like him, and he followed a tough act. Just felt like he could have been calling any game, for any team, in any city, state in the US, to me.

Very, very strange.

Are we giving a tinkers damn what chip carey thinks about who we have or hire as our PbP guy? If so we may have problems nobody knew existed.

Did Wes or Brandon " love GT" before taking the job? Hell, Al's first paid broadcast job was doing ugag basketball. Doubt if he loved GT at that point. And he graduated from - oh my gosh - an SEC school

I would hope we hire the best guy available for the job. But at GT, that often times does not seem to be a top priority to a lot of folks.

Justin Thomas has seen it all.

Do you remember when he was ranting on Tech and Skip told him that it was only because he couldn't get in?

How soon does someone need to be hired?

Highly doubtful that Chip Carey would endorse Josh forthe job. He literally hates Tech. Any chance he gets on Braves game he will wail on Tech.

I like when Joe gives him a jab back when he does that.

- I enjoyed watching my alma mater soundly defeat Georgia Tech on this field earlier this year...
- It's your alma mater because that's the one that would let you in
