Returning starters???

Which of these spots do we actually experience a legitimate downgrade in? The only positions I see that I would consider a downgrade at would be MLB and one of the OLBs...

I'd definitely say we experience a downgrade at RB. Not because of a lack of talent of Dwyer/Evans/etc. But, simply because Choice was so special as a player and person. He made things happen and produced (Best in the ACC, and maybe nation if he didn't get hurt). That's HARD to replace. Dwyer and company may become overcome that downgrade and more but not immediately.

I'd also say we're experiencing a downgrade on the OL at least early on. I think Rhodes would have been dynamite in this offense - mean, smart, quick, high effort. Tums and McManus you can pretty much say that about too. We're downgrading at center no matter how you look at it (at least in the immediate future). How many center/QB exchange problems did we have over the last 2 years? Our current problems may not be all the center's fault but some of it is.

Defensive end is hard to say. We're replacing two guys who have a great chance at being NFL players and who were solid rocks last year. But, the two we have show all of the promise in the world and have a great chance at making more NFL noise.

One safety spot is upgraded by Burnette, but the other is a downgrade as you should count Jamal Lewis as a more than solid player. I would say corner isn't a downgrade.

No way QB could be a downgrade.

WR should be upgraded with the continued development and progress of Bebe and Earls.

You've already spoken to LB, and I agree.

I guess you could say we upgraded from TE to A-Backs, and yes I would consider it an upgrade in personnell.

I agree with w/ everything except Jamal Lewis. He really didn' live up to his junior year production. If Reese continues to progress, we may have a better safety tandem.
