revelation in F$U cheating scandel.....

FSU didn't sue to have the information released, they WERE sued by a group of Florida newspapers to have it made public, this has been in judicial proceedings down here for a while now.

law_bee, are you aware that learning disabilities are covered under ADA? There are set procedures and tests that States use to establish this disability. Once established, concessions are made to assist the designated student. However, I don't believe a 60IQ would qualify. It must be a difference in the way the brain processes information.

My thoughts, too. Are these guys just dumb, or is there an LD involved? If there is an LD, then I'm sure there is a statute somewhere under the ADA that they can't deny admission.

Did anyone else wonder, though, LD's or illiterate people and reading the playbook? Seems that would seriously undermine the quality of what you're trying to do. I mean dyslexia. Can you imagine trying to figure out how to stop PJ's offense with dyslexia? Then again, maybe that's why so many of them were running the wrong direction last Saturday. :hsugh:

PS - BTW, law_bee... it's scandAl. :p

I can't believe this... This is the atrocity that Bobby Dodd wanted to leave the SEC for. Yes, the Chick Graning incident was huge, but more than that it was that these SEC schools were pulling in boatloads of kids based on athletic ability, then throwing them out on the streets after offering them scholarships, or neglecting academics and signing them anyways...

I read a story about Miami recruiting several players who barely graduated high school and the dean of admissions refused to admit them to the university, so the athletic staff is waiting on them to graduate prep school... for Miami...

On a side note. You umderstand that anyone admitted from a Hargrave or another junior college, would not have gotten in straight out of high school. There are way too many FB and BB players in the SEC and some other factories, that could not get into a college based on merit, without athletics involved.

I don't know all the details of the story, so excuse me if this is well known already. Did the ACC or the NCAA catch them? Also, does the ACC regularly monitor/investigate programs to ensure that everything is kosher?

They self reported to the NCAA hoping for leniency, but I think they did so once they realized they couldn't keep the cat in the bag.

Kind of like we did in 2003, but with very different evidence.

I'm still trying to picture a LB with dyslexia trying to figure out how to defend PJ's offense.

So are the guys on the FSU forums.
