This is what I have heard this morning...can anyone confirm? This would be a great pick up. Not unexpected, but great all the same.

CONFIRMED...Welcome aboard Mr. Watson

6PM Announcement for the local cameras.

I like this commitment. Big back with some moves and a nose for the end zone. (Part of a red zone package perhaps?) Our runners are varied in their style, but all have talent. We are going to be very difficult to defend against our ground game.

I vote we don't mentally try to move him to fullback. I think he can play tailback at the next level - better than he can play fullback. If he picks up 40 pounds, we can discuss it then. Until he does so, plan on him toting the rock.

PS

Any other running back that wants a ship had better be all-world. There's 2 or 3, but don't feel bad if some awfully good backs decide to "reject" us to go elsewhere.

I agree. Scout has him listed as the second best Fullback in the country. However, I don't want to see that happen. I want to see him pounding the football on short yardage situations and in the fourth quarter. Again great pick up...Things have really picked up over the last couple of weeks.

He is being recruited as a RB; FB is taken care of with Lukes transfer, quincy kelly and trevor bray.

No worries.

It's confirmed but he didn't want it public until he announced on the radio at 6. That was his request.

I'm not questioning anything you say on this, but why does a guy announce to anyone but the coaches if he doesn't want it made public? I certainly respect his request (just like I think others on this board do too), but if one person in the chain isn't told that it's not public then it's going to be made public. And that's not even considering those like Scout and Rivals who make a profit from scooping these stories before anyone else.

Maybe the coaches are the ones that are leaking it?

I have seen where Watson was compared to T.J. Duckett. Definitely not a bad weapon to have. His videos are sick. He can really motor for such a big Back. You would expect a guy like that to rumble down the field, but Watson is more fluent than that. I saw several times where he was able to turn the corner and pick up big yardage before having to run over and drag those poor DBs. He will likely have more trouble finding the corner in college, but between the tackles I would expect him to be a real bruiser.

One issue - he reported a 2.9GPA. We need to stick a tutor on him right out of the box (which I'm sure our coaching staff has thought of).

Don't know if it matters but it's 2.9 on core classes (so PEs and such aren't included to bring it up).

I know that he has held a commitable offer for a while now. The staff must feel confident that he will be okay.

That does make a big difference.

GT's standard is 3.0 on all college courses, correct? My only actual concern was a 2.9 OVERALL GPA would have converted into a 2.5 or lower in college. Again, not necessarily, but law of averages has it that way.

And again, I'm sure the coaches have this in their sights already.
