Richard Watson Commits to Jackets

Then shouldn't we have known about Reggie Ball and Kenny Scott ahead of time?
Yes, we should have known - at least the staff and administrators. And we did know. Kenny Scott was borderline for at least a couple of quarters prior to the one where he was finally declared ineligible. There was a period late last spring when we thought that Scott wouldn't play any of his SR season (and this did hit the message boards, I'm no insider).

Can't speak for Reggie's situation specifically but it was also rumored that there were more borderline students in addition to Scott (although I don't remember any other names being leaked)

Excellent recruit. This could be another very good class by next February. I really like our future QB and RB outlook.

Watson rated 7th best RB in FL. However, it cracks me up as 3 of those rated above him are 5-8 165/5-7 170 and 5-10 156. Descriptions for all 3 say outstanding speed and will be slot receivers at the next level. A 4th who is 5-10 239 missed almost all of last year with an injury. Makes you wonder.

I think that some analyst think that he may be a product of the system and the league in which he plays. He plays for a single A program. He is somewhat a man against boys. Also, his school uses an extremely run heavy Wing-T offense. That may be true but I think that some fail to realize that if he did play in AAAA or AAAAA, he would have better blockers and skill players around him...so it really balances out if you think about it. Trust me, this kid is a beast with real speed and vision. He will be a very good Runningback in college.

Mustang...This makes me think about William Andrews who was a good blocking back for Auburn but a great running back for the Falcons. Any similarity?

MustangGT, when I said makes you wonder, I meant wonder about the ratings, not about Watson. I think he will be great for GT.

He is rated the #3 FB in the country by Scout. He will be a good single set back that can do a lot of things.
He picked us over offers from Ohio State, Arkansas, UCLA, and Boston College...among others.
