According to the AJC. My question is how much will the cast hurt his ability to catch passes and pitches?

I'm no doctor but I think it had more of an adverse effect on his ability to block than anything else.

It depends on the type of cast he is wearning. It could be as simple as a soft wrap (still called a splint) which would not be a big deal.

Its mentioned in the AJC article. I believe it said he had limited motion in his fingers.

The cast in the pic below would be problematic for tucking the ball because you cannot bend your wrist. I have to think this is coming off for the games with a softer splint.

Well I'd imagine if he can't catch the ball and can't hold it, he won't play. Draw your own conclusions.

The hard cast has to be gone or he wouldn't be starting. Btw, that thing hurts to get a high five (or whatever it's called in cast form) from.

wow, I hope he is ready
I hope it was smart to not play vs Jax to get comfort level up,a bad hand brings up lots of ball security and catching issues

I trust CPJ if he wants to put Roddy in, but with the depth at A-back, not sure if we really need him at less than 100%. The risks are aggravating the injury and putting the ball on the ground because of the cast/not fully healed wrist.

So you think PJ will play him if he's not ready?

IMO, If he was an essential piece that our offense was diminished by keeping him out, then play him.
But I think we have enough depth at A-back that others can pick up the slack.

However, I still defer to PJ. I wouldn't mind seeing Roddy breaking loose like he did in Athens last year!

Just curious because I don't know - does he usually play on the side where that hand is on the outside or the inside when he runs?

Which is better? The outside hand is the one he should be carrying the ball in (bad if the hand makes him more likely to fumble) but the inside hand would be more likely to be hit directly.

He plays both sides...all the A backs do.
