Blank refused to rule out Vick returning to the falcons at a later date... Parcells didnt want Vick back ruining team chemistry in 18 months.. Blank has too much invested in Vick to completely rule out a return.

This is hard for me to believe and I haven't read it anywhere... What Blank said: if Vick stays in shape and matures as an individual he deserves another chance -- was a very classy thing for our owner to say, but he was bringing Parcells in here to restore credibility and give the Tuna complete control. There's no way he would have forced his hand re: Vick, and something two years down the road wouldn't be a major concern anyhow.

We got hosed by Huizenga's decision to not sell the Fins, and if you look at Parcells history and relationship with Huizenga than it makes sense to choose the known quantity rather than a wild-card owner he doesn't know with a disillusioned fan base...
 
When asked if Vick would never return to the Falcons, Arthur Blank did say "never is too strong of a word" and didn't rule out the possibility of a return. I don't believe this is why Parcells didn't take the job though.
 
They were saying on ESPN that is was moslty a personell and infrstructure decision. Miami already has more in place this is suitable to his style. At least that's what Sean Salsbury and John Clayton said.

Here is another take on the story...

Parcells leaked the story about his Falcons deal, forcing the Dolphins to pony up more cash. Then Parcells backed out of the agreement with Atlanta and has reportedly agreed to a four-year deal with Miami.
This is the most believable story in the history of sports. Parcells has been doing this forever.

I don't believe that the Vick situation entered into the equation at all. I concur with the previous posters (and a great msn.foxsports article) that Parcells used the Atlanta situation as leverage with the Dolphins, which is pretty much what he's done his entire professional career in coaching.

I have NO sympathy for him.. he made his bed, now he can sleep in it.

I find it laughable that he cries about Petrino quitting with 3 games left in the season when he is the dipsh|t who fired his superbowl coach with 3 games left in the season. I think we all know now, that it was Dan Reeves who got the falcons to the superbowl and not the players..

The falcons are a disgusting ghetto-like, thug filled team that are more concerned with their petty statements of support for a felon than preparing for the their ballgame.

They are definitely "Atlanta's Team".

He could have traded Vick once he realized that he was an awful QB, the rest of the league was still enamored with him - he surely could have traded him to Oakland. But Vick puts African American butts in seats and they weren't going to mess with that.
 
Blank/McKay (the Braintrust) could've kept Matt Shaub and shopped Vick. But that wouldn't have sold well to the 'thug nation'.

He was getting a ridiculous amount of pressure from the fans to fire Reeves at the time (the fans thought he was unimaginative with the offense - although Vick's productivity under Reeves hasn't been matched since). The same fans that called for his head are now killing Blank for firing him - go figure.

Yeah he is an awful QB, we are doing much better without him. And how was Vick a "criminal, malcontent Va. Tech thug" when Blank drafted him? And if you think Vick only put black butts in seats then you are blind...as you said the rest of the league was enamored with him, and that included fans everywhere. Sure towards the very end(ie dogfighting) the support might have turned somewhat into a racial thing, but for the first three or four years the entire city was in love with him, and that includes the whitewashed suburbs, and after that it was split down the middle on who supported him based on who thought he had talent, not who was black or not. And now most of those who didn't think he was good will admit that we were better off with him than without him, as we watch other QBs get hammered behind the line and have receivers drop their passes.

I saw him interviewed at the MNF game awhile back and he didn't rule out the possibility of MV coming back. He said if he can stay in shape and stay away from the fried chicken then there is a good possibility of him coming back to the falcons. The next day some people tried to make Blank look racist because he used the example of fried chicken. What retards!!!!!!!

Thank you. Folks are actin like Reeves had a ton of fan support.. NO! The majority of people wanted Reeves gone.
