This is Furman Bisher's last column (click last column).

A great reporter. Furman actually investigated, got to know coaches, and developed sources. There aren't many, if any, who do that these days. A good writer with a great sense of how the games he reported on were a part of the world.

I'm sad to see him go. We shall not look upon his like again.

Is he retiring?? I do believe he was one if not the only reporter from that so called "AJC" that actually supported Tech through the years :eek5:

He says this is his last column.

So sad.

Ahh, didn't read the link , sad to see him him go indeed, doubt we shall find a replacement for him for a long while......So long Mr. B, take care and God Bless!

I do like Furman, although he tends to ramble in his articles. He will be missed.

This is really a shame. His personal interview with Chancellor Hellwig following the unfortunate assassination of Franz Ferdinand was really a great piece of pre-war journalism.

Although I am biased, I remember the article he wrote about Mover after the big Clemson win in '84 I think it was.

"Big Ole Mountain Boy" was the name of the article if I remember correctly. I still have it somewhere packed away.

I always looked forward to reading his articles.

Thank you Furman Bisher for a wonderful career. You will be missed.

May God bless your retirement!!

I knew this day would have to come and to me it would never seem like the right time. Over the years ( some 68 for me now ) I have read so many times how so and so favored UGA over us etc . Well if you have been around long you would know that Furman always seemed to lean our way. While I am on that subject I have felt for a long time that tech fans need to get over the "AJC SUCKS THE AJC WRITERS DON't like us" which IMHO is CRAP. If some Tech folks wern't so arrogant and realized there sh-- does actually stink we would all be better off. I think it's time to grow up and quit whining like kids. Not really trying to pi-- everyone off but enough is enough. Please pardon me for digressing from my post. He is one of a kind as a writer and we in Atlanta have been so lucky for so long. I hope his remaining years will be good ones.

The AJC is as good as gone. No question that UGAy got better coverage and treatment than GT in the last 40 years.

Bisher was the best sports writer in the 160 yr (?) history of the AJC...

I like Bisher - and respected him more than any other.

But Dave Kindred was the best writer that paper ever had.

I wish there were a collection of old Furman Bisher articles on the web. There were so mnay great ones about Georgia Tech. No doubt, he definitely favored us no question.

BOR, I emailed Furman today and asked him if he was thinking about publishing a book or even writing one, I'll let you know what he says.

Please let me know too, if you don't mind. I've been reading his columns since I was 12. Of course, that's only 15 years. I'd love to see more of his older articles.
