Sat Games 11/16

Vols had a favorable schedule. There is a reason UGAg was favored by 2 scores. Tennessee is a 15-20 range team.
I just went and looked. Man they had a playoff run schedule setup, and lost to Arkansas.

They were hyped from a ranked NC State(haha) and a 15th ranked Oklahoma(haha).

Had to take a pre-lagway UF team to OT. Their OCC is really shameful for a wannabe blue blood program

Even though it wouldn't have counted, the mutt who picked up the ball tried to score, unlike Singleton for Tech who slid for the team rather than rubbing it in Miami's face.
Singleton sliding is one of the images that will stay with me like Calvin's spiderman catch vs. NC State, Watkins' catch in the corner of Death Valley. Calvin's catch in the corner of Death Valley. Calvin's other catch in the corner of Death Valley earlier that night. Got a lot of Johnson burned into my brain. But Singleton's slide was an instance of one of the good guys winning the game by making the smartest move, and that is gratifying in a way most game-winners are not.

I hadn't really thought about it before but it seems like at some point ESPN, and the other networks now with large stakes in college football, will probably begin to minimize references to historical results. Sort of like how pro wrestling promotions will ignore past matches and feuds for the sake of presenting current ones as fresh, unique, worth paying attention to. Once they have fully homogenized the culture of college sports and their audiences inevitably dwindle in the absence of novelty or surprise, they will likely attempt to mitigate it the only way they know, which is narrative control.

I am trying to decide whether tonight makes it more or less likely that Kansas will beat Colorado.
probably moot. Still playing for bowl eligibility. Should be amped up crowd at Arrowhead. But always tough for kids to sustain this effort and focus for multiple weeks. Will be interesting for sure. ASU hosts BYU next week controlling its own destiny for Big 12 title game as well.

I'm taking ASU. I saw flashes of what they had brewing there early last season and I think they are on the rise. They play hard, they scrap, and they have multiple defensive guys who can lay lethal lumber. Similar to Indiana, it's gonna be interesting to see just how high they can climb with the new format.

I wouldn’t bet against them, but the stadium may be 50/50 in Tempe. Lots of Mormons in AZ and ASU’s rise to the top of the Big 12 standings has been a little sudden.

Should be a fun game. Kinda like a tiebreaker to qualify for first round of playoffs game. A nice appetizer for the conference championship games.

You dumb öööööööööööös with your asinine conspiracy theories are way too ööööing much.

Besides the ridiculous (and pernicious) assumption that literally no one has any personal integrity or ethics at all (is this a case of transference?) . . .

Do you have ANY ööööing comprehension of how impossible it would be to maintain a conspiracy of that magnitude without it leaking? I mean, öööö, Tim Donaghy was a "conspiracy" of ONE and that ööööer was STILL busted.

Please, for God's sake . . . just stop.

This used to be the way Real Men, Real Fans talked about sports. Win or stfu and Don't leave it up to the refs lol sry not sry and so on. You could go back through this board's history and find many threads/discussions about problems with officiating which were basically stopped dead by one person coming in with that angle, and nobody wants to be the sore loser bitching because their team lost and they can't cope and etc.

Now, a few short years later, it sounds terribly naive and childish. If you're capable of ignoring the glaring problems with college sports and officiating, then I strongly recommend you continue doing that because it really sucks to feel like the thing you love is tainted, corrupted, inauthentic. But everything you're saying, between the insults, is extremely general and not appropriate to the specific issues and incidents being raised. Actually it doesn't address them at all.

Fairness in sports is going, or has already gone, the way of privacy in the age of mass surveillance; on some level, we all have to live in a sort of denial because it's deeply unpleasant and potentially harmful to grow too fixated on a problem you cannot personally solve or really affect at all. But literally denying the facts of the matter and ridiculing others for being troubled by them is as absurd as it is ignorant.

All these ööööers on TV been saying how good the Vols' defense is. Better than Ol' Miss they said.

Bull öööö.

Beck has had all ööööing day back there. If he wasn't so ööööty they would have already put up 50.
Calm down man. Good grief.

Reality is, Tennessee’s offense has been hot garbage since whipping NCSU. While the 10-0 start by Tennessee looked promising, that was about it.

Ole Miss’s D is not as good as Tennessee’s overall, but Kiffin’s O is 50x better than Heupel’s. Heupel’s offensive drop sure resembles what happened at UCF before he left. Tennessee’s slide back to 7-8 wins a year starts next year. Heupel’s O has been adjusted to by sec DC’s.

For all the whining about refs, if any of you think having ACC refs in Athens is advantage, you missed most of the ACC games yesterday. The horrendous officiating by the crew at Pittsburgh was one of the worst anyone has seen in a long time. Even the last play of the game was a blatant false start by Pitt not called.

The ACC is the new P12 when it comes to having the worst refs in the country at any D1A level (P4, G5).

I think that short of a whistleblower, and subsequent proper scandal, the machine will plow on for a few more years while the 12-team format is still fresh and the tricks and shady practices of the networks (in collusion with their preferred conference partners) are less apparent to fans. But it won't last, and I doubt we'll ever again see another ten year period without a serious shakeup in conferences, postseason format, non-conference scheduling, whatever is left that can be twisted and squeezed for more cash to the right people.
You’re seriously with a straight face going to ish on the current CFB product? I don’t understand the mindset that some have where the NCAA, conferences, schools, AD’s and coaches can make millions and process players out whenever they want, but SA’s should not be able to capitalize on NIL. All on the myth of “education” and “amateurism.”

This season has the most parity across the board in modern day history. There is truly no clear #1, and I’d argue 15+ teams have a legit shot to win the MNC. TV numbers show the product is attracting new viewers.

The rest of your X Files type post is pure myth. You’re entitled to your opinion, but you have no substance of “collusion” by the networks and conferences. Especially considering ESPN has broadcast right to not only the sec, but the ACC, B12.

The 12 team CFP will be 16 in 2 years, and will settle at 24 with in the next 5 years.
