Saturday other game thread

Their oline isn’t wonderful this year. They have given up many points to Tenn but their largest problems are oline and lack of a serous downfield threat.

It is two things. First you are correct about the OL, it pass protects better than it run blocks. Second, they don't have a power RB to punch the ball in.

In all seriousness, Bama needs a dominating RB, and as good as Gibbs is, he ain't it.
Yes. For years they have always had a workhorse back. Where is the Derrick Henry, the Trent Richardson, the Mark Ingram, the Najee Harris, the Eddie Lacy, the TJ Yeldon, the Bo Scarborough, the Johnny Musso? Musso? Sorry, I had a 1970s flashback. Anyway, Gibbs is explosive, but he isn't a workhorse bellcow.

But Bama's real problem is defense. This is their worst defense in a long time. They've given up 136 points in their last 5 games. When they won the Natty in 2017, they gave up 167 points in 14 games.

So next week-

1. UGA
2. Ohio St
3. Michigan
4. TCU

Long way to go, but if UGA, TCU, winner of OSU/Mich wins out, then the 4th team would be between/

OSU/Mich loser
Clemson
Org/USC/UCLA

?

I wouldn't put anything past them, but . . .

Vols win out.

ugag and Bama win out until SEC Championship. Bama beats dwags.

Three one-loss SEC teams who round-robin beat each other. Committee throws up its hands and puts all three in the playoff.

You need to update your prediction.

But how did they get this good is my ? Is Kirby that good of a coach? I know he learned from Saban but good grief, how have they been able to get that much talent of there as of late? SMH. It sucks! I know, Big Cry lol.

Ugag has always recruited good to very good. Kirby has recruited at an elite level. He's also surrounded himself with elite recruiters. College isn't like the NFL. It's still very much a Jimmy & Joes greater than the Xs and Os. Saban has even said as much. They spend a ridiculous amount on recruiting as mentioned ITT. They also, have started putting gobs of players in the NFL, granted mostly defensive guys. High School kids with NFL talent and aspirations (NIL has changed this a good bit) want to go where they can 1) win & 2) have a good shot at getting to the NFL. Kirby, horrible haircut & beer gut aside, has become a better coach than some people want to give him credit for.

When Chan was here we beat them many times for some good recruits and we sent players to the NFL. Our next regime needs to be an offensive minded coach who hires very good to elite recruiters & we build from there.

All that said, we need total buy-in from the administration and fan base. We have neither at the moment. Yes, we do not have the luxury of every sidewalk hick being a GT supporter like Ugag gets, but there's zero reason we should be this apathetic across the board for our program.

Plenty of talent a stones throw away from campus. We need a guy who can get that talent.
