The schedule is out.
9/1 - at ND
9/8 - Samford
9/15 - BC
9/22 - at UVA
9/29 - Clemson
10/6 - at Maryland
10/13 - at Miami
10/20 - Army
10/27 - Off
11/1 - Va Tech (Thursday)
11/10 - at Duke
11/17 - UNC
11/24 - UGA

I like the last four games. We can go into our bowl game with four straight wins!

A trip to the ACCCG could come down to the V-Tech game. We need to go up there and bitch-slap ND to get things started off right!!

Good to get BC early, as they will probably be learning a new O system. It would have been good to get UNC early too.

I'd rather have Miami early over UNC. There's only so much you can do with bottom of the barrel talent. But keep in mind, we may be learning a new offense as well.

looks like the division won't be decided as early next season. i don't see anything on the schedule that really scares me. vpi game will be huge on thursday, glad we got a off weekend before it and that it's at home.

Not too shabby. Really looking forward to the '07 season! Just too bad it's ~7 months away.

Bummed about the VT game. that would have been an awesome Sat night ABC/ESPN game in October. That would be a premier game for a Fall Saturday. Why would we play them on Thursday again after not having played them on a Saturday yet?

I agree
ESPN must have really wanted this match up on Tech's traditional Thursday night at BDS.

Edited to Add: A very nice schedule. Can't wait to go to South Bend and to end the regular season here with Georgia!

Wel, there's really no one else we could have put on Thursday night, unless it was BC, but I'm not a fan of extreme early season games on Thursday. UNC isn't good enough yet or that would have been a good one.

Hell, we can get some revenge now for that meltdown we had in 2004 and lost 34-20.

I kind of like the VT Thursday night game. I think it would be a pretty good annual thing.

Here's how I predict seasons. I assign each game a value between zero and one, indicating the chance we win, and I add the chances all up to get the expected number of wins. I do it every year around this time.

9/1 - at ND - 0.6
9/8 - Samford - 0.9
9/15 - BC - 0.7
9/22 - at UVA - 0.7
9/29 - Clemson - 0.6
10/6 - at Maryland - 0.6
10/13 - at Miami - 0.7
10/20 - Army - 0.9
10/27 - Off
11/1 - Va Tech (Thursday) - 0.2
11/10 - at Duke - 0.9
11/17 - UNC - 0.6
11/24 - UGA - 0.4

7.8 = 8 wins

Curious, and I don't remember their starters or anything, but why does everyone expect VT to be so good this year?

only downside I see is three things
1) No week off for the first 8 games
2) We play our two weakest ACC opponents Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 at the end of the schedule.
3) September is brutal....any injuries coming out of fall practice could miss some big games.

Other than that...I think the schedule has a lot of pro's.

Because they have the best combination of coaching and talent in the league.

They are high profile and they lose very little, but who in the ACC lost a lot?

It was almost hilarious to hear every ACC fan base this year crow about how they would be awesome in 2007 based on being very young in 2006 and returning most of the team. They were oblivious to the fact that pretty much every ACC team was extremely young last year and most ACC teams will lose single digits or less (many that few off the two deep).

Certainly not an easy schedule. I see only four definite wins, with BC at home possibly a fifth. Road games @ ND, UVA, Md & UM will all be tough, as will home games against the likes of Clemson and VT.

I can see eight or nine wins, but the four-week stretch that starts @UVA and ends @UM is going to be tough.

7.9 about 8 wins.
Wins @UVa have not been easy for us. And I don't expect Miami to remain down forever. I do think getting Miami mid season is good. Nix's offense isn't real complicated. I think the talent in Miami is going to grasp it right away. At least by mid season, Coach T should have some game film to watch.

BC should have been the Thursday night game. GT-VPI could very well decide the Coastal and such a big game should have a full day of tailgating before it.

ND loses a lot and South Bend isn't exactly the most intimidating place to play. Clemson is one of the few ACC teams to lose a lot from last season and we get them at home.

UNC and Miami should be much better than last year. It will be interesting to see how Nix does at Miami, since their offense was really their problem last year.

It also appears pretty certain that Army will be our homecoming.

"not been easy" is being nice....we have not won there since 1990!...17 years!

You are correct...Miami has everyone back plus some talent...they will not be down forever. The ACC teams I am seeing regularly in the pre-season Top 25's is VaTech around 10-12...and then I saw Miami in one about the same spot, but typically in the teens.

Where are the semenholes?

I want these Bobby Bowden bastids NOW!

I thought we were supposed to get them this year.
