Sirs,

How far in advance are the schedules nailed down? I know we have MSU, Bama, USC coming up in the next few years, but are all the games locked down?

I don't know about you guys, but Jack St and Gardner Webb bore me. Playing in the ACC, we need to bolster our strength of schedule. Playing UGAg alone does alot, but how about some other bigger games? It was great to play ND, but why stop and go back to these cupcake teams?

Who would you wanna play?????????

The OOC game are contracts between the teams - if you want to back out of one, you usually end up paying the other team some cash. I wouldn't mind seeing more mid-level D-1A teams OOC, and maybe a top-level program once in a while, but having UGA as a locked-in OOC opponent means we've got at least one big game every year. How many teams play an OOC opponent as good as UGA every year? I would guess not many.

For reference, here's the list of OOC opponents, from RR.com. I've heard a month or so ago that Syracuse is considering backing out of their games against us and Notre Dame, which I assume is part of their master plan of backing out of Division 1 football altogether. I didn't know we had South Carolina on the schedule for 2022. It seems crazy to me that I'm a college student and my team's already got games scheduled that I'll be watching when I'm in my late 30s.

With UGA being as strong as they are right now, we don't need any more big OOC games scheduled. Next year we have Vandy away, Miss. St. away (not a huge game, but SEC nonetheless), F$U and UM in conference away. Next year should be a tough year.

The only reason Tech is playing Garner-Webb is because Army backed out of the game.

Vandy would be pretty cool, especially with the way they are playing now.

I would love to see us play Tennessee, Auburn again, LSU, any SEC team would be sweet. Hell, schedule Florida!

If we wanna be a powerhouse, we gotta play some bigger teams besides Dook, UNC, NC St, blah blah.

UNLESS, FSU, Miami, VT, become the powerhouses of the past, that could really help us out.

Is there a site that shows the scheduled games for future schedules????

We're going to Nashville next year, and the 'Dores are coming here in 2013. We've also got games lined up in the next few years against both SEC schools from Mississippi, going to Starkville (MSU) next year, and then a home and home with Ole Miss (starting at BDS@HGF) in 2010-11.

What do you mean about future schedules? The OOC schedule linked to in my first post may be what you're looking for.

Not true. Our schedule is tough enough not to have to play difficult OOC games.

We have UGA, bama, vandy(which is good right now) ole miss, msu this year, BIG enough name OOC D1 teams besides our yearly ACC foes(UM,VT,Clem) coming up.

If we take care of business and win these and enough games a year we could become a powerhouse. You just got to win baby. You become recognized by going 9-3, 10-2 year after year. You can't accomplish this by going out and playing the USC, Texas, OK's of the world. Especially on top of our already difficult schedule.

For the first time in each schools history, I want to see GSU vs GT!

Other than that, Load up on Big East, C-USA and lower SEC schools

Hmm, Tulane, interesting.

Arghhh, Jville St again next year?

Why on Gods green earth are we playing at Mid Tn St?

Disagree....
that is why we are having a hard time cracking the polls, heck Ugag in my opinion will have 3 losses when we play them, IF we had won at VT (Darn near did) and ran the table, this is a year we probably would have been shut out of the BCS championship game.

We need another attractive OOC game each year along with Ugag, IF the ACC is down in a given year and Ugag is a 2,3 or 4 loss team playing us, it could hurt us badly as to a BCS champ. game shot..It is what is with the ACC right now. If we were in the Big 12, Sec or Pac 10 or Big 10 we would have a much better strength of schedule, so UNTIL the ACC get's stronger, I think we need to add another strong OOC game...

You tell my point better than I can myself.

Lets not assume the ACC is good enough. Shoot high, if we are good enough to run the ACC, we can beat some other big names.

This is all in a few years, give CPJ some time to recruit, then pounce on the whole football world

Jax State is a perfect team for us to play. They're ranked top ten in Div 1AA I believe. They are perfect to fill the weaker opponent spot.

I'm not looking forward to playing Bama next year, I tell you that.

We should play anyone who will give us 2 for 1.

We play bama in 2013 i think. Our schedule isnt to easy next year. @ miss st @ vandy @ miami @ fsu and @ wake.

Have you looked at the Pac 10 this season? the ACC would own 10 out of 11 matchups with them. Also, that one loss would be a close one. The only team that is reputable right now is USC and they are going solely off of their reputation.

On another note, I would enjoy having a national schedule. Have a few Big 10 teams coming to Atlanta, like OSU, Mich, Penn St. We are already trying to schedule more SEC teams, so that base is covered. Also, schedule someone desent from the Big 12. I for some twisted reason would love to have a home and away with Texas. I have despised the longhorns ever since Brown benched Major Applewhite for Simms. Bonehead.

The problem is that the Big 12 teams are not in descent. Oh, you mean decent, never mind

Although scheduling bad SEC teams may pad our record it really doesn't excite the fans and it MAKES THE GAMES START AT NOON. I don't think beej understands this.

I think UNC's OOC slate this year is the ideal model:

McNeese State - cupcake
@Rutgers - average/mediocre team from a conference like the Big East or C-USA
UCONN - mid-level BCS team.
Notre Dame - team that isn't that good but suckers enough people into believing in them every year so that beating them still carries some weight

It's not that hard to go 4-0 with this schedule, yet you don't have to deal with the criticism of playing an extremely weak non-conference schedule. Given that we play UGA every year, this doesn't really pertain to us but since the discussion of schedules has been brought up, I thought it was worth mentioning.
