Screw this consensus

I saw this earlier today and just shook my head... Its like statisticians contorting the data set to fit their agenda. Only if you average the rankings (is this even meaningful?) do they come out 1 FREAKING SPOT ahead of GT.
 
I find it odd how they don't allude to the fact that last season's high expectations for UGA didn't mean crap.

UGA was preseason #1 and we were preseason unranked. Who won? Oh yeah, us. Who was best in the state of Georgia? Us!

The only way to judge who is the best in the state of Georgia is not by looking at the rankings, it is by looking at who is expected to win in a head-to-head match up. I would like to bet some good money against that writer, b/c if we were to play UGA the first game of the season at BDS, we would be the favorites.
 
I did not even bother pulling up the article. This has no use whatsoever.

I don't even think "expected". We were expected to win again LSU, and we laid an egg. What matters is who scores the most in a 60 minute game, and is then the best in the state for the rest of the year.
 
On the other hand though, I think we do better when we're not expected to. So, let them think we'll suck...
 
Georgia, with an average ranking of 15, comes in behind Florida (1.0), Ole Miss (7.4), Alabama (8.4) and LSU (12)

Games between these teams:

Georgia/Florida
Georgia/LSU
Florida/LSU
Ole Miss/Alabama
Ole Miss/LSU
Alabama/LSU

Seems unlikely all 5 end up top 15. Especially LSU who plays 3 of those 4 games away
