Season ticket sales exceed last year's numbers

Sellouts is what rings the register. Yes we want more people in attendance, but we need th cash first.

No, what rings the register is sold jerseys, sold tee shirts, sold television rights, sold parking, sold drinks, sold food, bigger non-conference game payouts, filled hotel rooms, and bigger bowl games with bigger payouts (from travelling better)... All items which will not be solved by having half committed homegame sellouts of $150 tickets where the person only comes to one or two games...

A $30 ticket doesn't make near as much money as does a father and his son coming to the game, paying $20 to park, both wearing $50 jerseys, buying a couple hot dogs and sodas, and having to stay a night at the Georgia Tech hotel...

Selling tickets is only half (if even) the battle...

Hotel rooms don't do anything for Tech. Yes, the things that go along with ticket sales are big, but selling the ticket is pure profit and the first huge step.

What he said ^^^

Are we actually debating this fact? A sellout is all the tickets are sold. A sellout crowd is all those fans who bought tickets are present and accounted for.

I get the math, but selling out tickets is not the solution to growing a fan base and having a profitable program... You have to have committed fans that want to spend money on their team...

GT makes money on the Georgia tech hotel, and obviously that's small but nonetheless... $190/ night or so...

You're missing an obvious point. Everyone would like to have every seat filled. The simple fact is Tech doesn't have that many fans in the ATL area right now, or it would be happening. The first step is selling every seat. Exciting, winning football will get butts in those seats.

You're basically arguing with yourself...or maybe you're stating and restating an obvious point as an argument.

Ticket sales dont always indicate a successful program with a good fan base... That's all I'm trying to say. If you're using ticket sales as the sole litmus for the success of the program then you're a missing a whole lot...

It was never an argument with you it was an argument with people saying "since our tickets sales are up from last year we must be doing way better and the program and support must be growing" which is a hasty generalization...

Can we agree that increased ticket sales is a good indicator of increased fan interest?

Doing what Tech did this year with ticket sales and two I-AA (FCS) home games is amazing!

The AJC makes it seem like we barely sold any season tickets this year.
