I just threw up in my mouth a little! I try not to think about that, ever.

PJ and staff are doing excellent recruiting defense.

This is the third DT we have gotten that look to have a bright future.
(assuming green and Mccoy sign)

I checked his Facebook page, and a bunch of people were congratulating him, including his mother and sister... One dude asked "why tech", but I believe we'll all know why when we win the MNC this year.

;)

What did he have to say regarding his commitment?

Nothing much, just "Feelin good...jus commited 2 GA Tech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1". Heh. He also said that he had to go to morning practice.

Thanks. I'm getting to old to keep up with all this technology. I have just gotten to understand Myspace.

Anyways Shawn is going to be a top 25 player in state of GA according to Rivals. Also has a chance to be our fifth 4* commit.

Oh, these star systems are updated?

Some have been.
Mccoy 4*
Ayers 4*
Johnson 4*
Bostic 4*
Perkins 3*
Holton 3*

I was going to post this in the recruiting thread but it won't let me load it unless somebody else posts in it first.

Good to see the efforts of our staff appreciated by others outside the program. If you look at last year's class, almost all of them were All-State, State Mr. Football finalist, etc. That was a nice class that was very underrated by the "services."

OK, but he's a little short and kinda slow. The earlier DT we took is 6'4" and 5.0 in the forty. Whats special about Green? Is he Leroy Selmon reincarnated?

From what I've heard is that he is quite agile (not sure if I'm spelling that right) and is pretty good at getting past blockers.

6-1 or 6-2 is actually perfect for an interior lineman...low center of gravity...hard to move...tree trunks for legs. His first step is quick.

Check out his video....its impressive. He is a football player...and thought by many college coaches to be the best DT in the state this year.

As a person who wore many orange popsickle color shirts to football games in the late 70's and early 80's -- I think Lee Roy was an end and not a tackle.

BTW, met him once and shook his hand...his hand was about 3 of my hands -- they were huge. RM, I think he retired before you got into the league, right? You did not play against him, did you?

articles say he has a terrific first step, great hands and a super motor.

Selmon was also 6'3". Maybe it was one of his brothers who was a dominant nose man.

It depends on your technique, but the best DT's are often the shorter guys (6'0" to 6'3") with big lower bodies, and about 300-320 lbs. You can't move those guys off a dime, because most OL these days can't get under them, yet if they have some quicks, such a DL can stand up an OL with a rush and rip. At least, this is the way it was back in the dark ages.... ;)
