All this love for a bulldog?
Decatur high bulldog.
Harrison's mail, when he lived at home, came from the Decatur Post Office. That is all the connection to Decatur.

Going to miss him for sure, maybe moreso than we missed Manget. Statistically Luke and Harrison are pretty similar, though Butker didn't go 100% on his career in PATs, Manget also never had an 85% FG season. Both had legendary kicks against Georgia, and even though the '99 game is very special I think the 2014 kick from across the state has to take the cake.We are spoiled now, no doubt
The incoming kicker has video of himself kicking from various distances up to 70 yards. Of course, it is with the little holding contraption and not a snap/hold/kick, but it is still impressive. Perhaps in 4 years he will be approaching the scoring recordGoing to miss him for sure, maybe moreso than we missed Manget. My bad.Harrison's mail, when he lived at home, came from the Decatur Post Office. That is all the connection to Decatur.
for those who are the praying type, Harrison's grandmother is scheduled for heart surgery next week. He and his family would appreciate all kind thoughts and prayers.
I met him at fan day. He's a great kid. He was very gracious to my 3 year old daughter who didn't get the whole signing experience. Bummed that he's done at Tech, but he's going to be great wherever he goes and whatever he does.Look at me post:
Met Butker and his parents not too long after the kick in '14. Nice folks and Butker was gracious.
Glad to see him go out with a few more clutch FGs yesterday.
That's what I remember as well -- something about "wasting a scholarship on a kicker"
It's a big part of the game -- especially all of those touchbacks on kick-offs and clutch field goals against tough opponents
I don't know what thread I saw it in, but it struck me as so stupid that it stuck with me. The kicking game is incredibly important, especially in games where your margin for error is slimmest. That was the phrase exactly, thanks!
I think a lot of programs, if not the majority, don't give scholarships to freshman kickers. They earn them after walking on.I don't know what thread I saw it in, but it struck me as so stupid that it stuck with me. And it's not only the scoring. For a few years there, we couldn't even get a kickoff to the goal line, let alone out of the end zone. We probably led the NCAA in giving opponents a short field after every kickoff.Dude has been kicking ass for 4 years, sometimes from 50+ yards. He will be missed.

I was told we can't recruit NFL-caliber talent.
