Just got this email:
Georgia Tech's Football Signing Day Celebration will be held this Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in Atlantic Station's Twelve Hotel.

The Yellow Jacket football coaching staff, led by head coach Paul Johnson, will discuss and preview the newest additions to the roster at the event. Signing Day is the first day football prospects can sign letters of intent and the entire recruiting class should be complete prior to the Celebration.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. Light appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Admission is $10. Atlantic Station offers two hours of free parking in its underground lots.

Coach Johnson, Recruiting Coordinator Giff Smith and other members of the football coaching staff will talk about every member of the recruiting class. Video highlights of each player will be shown.

sounds awesome!

I went to the one last year. Here's the rundown:

Bunch of really old white guys buying one drink and sitting around waiting for the coaches to show you some highlight reel film you've already seen because you have the internet and read discussion boards like this. The dance team is there, and they're pretty cute. An occasional really old white wife is also in attendance. Then everyone complains about 'kids these days' and about Georgia. Horsdeouvres are free. PJ is good for a minimum of two pretty good jokes, which last year were among the variety of, "Gosh, guys, we never rented out a nightclub at Navy to watch recruiting videos."

This may sound disparaging, but I did have fun last year. Hung out with JTS (SWAGGAR!!) and his dad.

:laugher: Funny. That's EXACTLY how I pictured it in my head!

We usually try to attend. Hopefully, we are not who Beej is describing, we are not that old...yet. :laugher:

Our flight is scheduled to land around 5:00 Wednesday. If it is does, we should be there.

Ten bucks is vastly beyond my price range at this point. I do recommend it, though. The food was pretty good last year.

spend less time dominating the StingTalk board, and more time earning money.

your opinions are not really worth all of the lost revenue.

10 bucks too expensive? u serious?

Hey, even engineers like beej are having it tough these days. 10 bucks is just enough to buy a couple forties of malt liquor...umm, err, I mean feed him for a week.

Screw the celebration. If you work later in the morning, you can wake up and drive to the Edge. Coaches will show video and speak about the recruits as the faxes come in. No need to go to the party

The UGA Signing Day is held at the Clarke County DA's office and the Police station to review the rap sheets on the new list of potential guest at the Clarke County Hilton.

At FSU they call the future players Probation Officer and see if they can track down the player and get an X on the line.
