Slowing Down the Game

In a recent ESPN article, Calvin Johnson made the following quote:

"Things have just slowed down on me," he said. "I'm not making any mistakes out there. I'm running good routes. But the main thing is that things have slowed down for me now that I'm in my second year.


"People have told me I would see a big change after my rookie season, and I've seen a big change."

Right now the option is new to our players. They aren't running at full speed right now because they're thinking their actions through. How long before the game "slows down" for them and they're able to run at full speed? When will the O click for them? My "prediction" is four games. A big influence will be how long the O-line stays healthy. Obviously, you won't get any practice on the sidelines.
