Green looks to be the heir apparant to Wimbush @ OLB. Green has hardly seen the field in his 1st 2 seasons (wasting a rs yr) & would not have seen the field much this yr as Wimbush's backup. That means he'd probably only have next yr, his Sr season, to play a lot. By rsing him now, we could have him as a 2 yr starter @ OLB.
This was a smart move by our staff, even if the stated reason was for him to get his academics better. Sterling needed a season to mature & this is just what the doctor ordered.
Green has been practicing every day & Gailey's word is he looks 'very good' practicing on the scout team. Kudos to our staff for making this move with Sterling as he'll be a better player & student for it.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Green was NCAA eligible but Georgia Tech ineligible. This was not a choice or decision by the staff. They had no choice in the matter.

That was the 'stated' reason. You don't 'know' that for sure. How many others could be held out who are academically eligible by NCAA guidlines? See we don't really know for absolute sure.
Anyway, he needed a rs yr & he's getting it. He's practicing every day & has not been suspended whatsoever. Most people would call that a redshirt yr.

It is essentially a redshirt year but the coaches had nothing to do with it. Was a Tech administrative decision that would have been the same on any student.
