So I talked with a football player yesterday...

Also remember guys, we overachieved immeasurably this season. We were a top 25 team when we shouldn't over won half our games. We went in there believing we could hang with the top 10 teams when we arne't quite there yet, and LSU is a top 10 team without a horrible QB and a settled defense. However, next season we could very well get to that level.

Maybe that month of practice helped LSU a lot more than people realize. That gave Jefferson a whole lot more reps than he had prior to that month with the first-team. Plus, they got healthy, too.

IMNSHO...

LSU underachieved a LOT more than UGAG did last fall.

LSU was still a very talented team despite the losses. They hung with Bama and showed flashes all year. They were up against us and we didn't meet the challenge.

IMO, while LSU had a great month of practice (remember, Miles hasn't yet lost a postseason game, and its not because LSU is ever underrated), I think we lost a lot by going a whole month without game time experience. Its easy to forget an entirely new system which you crammed into your system in a little less than a complete season.

I'd say the main and perhaps only really big benefit LSU gained in that month was prep time for Jefferson. Also, I wonder if that forgetting stuff in the layoff is in anyway related to youth, or perhaps inexperience.

LSU had bigger better athletes than we did, that's all. We'll get there, or at least a lot closer, and some breaks will determine how we do against teams like that.

Don't forget LSU beat the mess out of Va Tech to start
last season with close to the same people. Yeah I know
they lost a few guys but their replacements were also
very good. We just ran into a buzz saw & we helped to
sharpen their blades.

I had breakfast with an outgoing SR. OL this morning and he point blank said they got their asses handed to them. He said GT was ready to play but this was the biggest most physical team they played all year and when a couple things went wrong they couldn't rebound.

Did the subject of how the younger players on the OL might do next season come up at all by chance?

Cool, good to hear it from someone in the thick of it instead of (though intellectually derived) speculation on our part.
