and led them to 5 straight bowls. How much different is that from CG's record @ Tech? Are we really getting an upgrade?

And, he'll cost double what chan did... I'm scratching my head with ya on that one.

His first year there he was 2-10 with old players, system, etc...take that one away.(making it 43-19)

Plus, it's Navy...

He was coaching at the Naval Academy. Does that answer your question?

Are you kidding me?

PJ went 10-2 in his second year with a team that was 2-20 the 2 years before he got there.

2006 9-4

2005 8-4

2004 10-2

2003 8-5

2002 2-10

2001 0-10

Off by a year but still pretty close guys...I mean come on.

Also, their next best year was 9-3 in 1996, and then 1978

If we can play Navy's schedule, then GT will probably achieve marginal improvement over Gailey's record.

I'm sure that Radakovich will start working on the new schedule just before he leaves with the shaft he got from Ma Tech.

Just out of curiousity, are you against him if he becomes our coach or just not sold on him?

Look at the teams Navy plays every year... They play nobody year in year out... I think he'd cost twice the trouble Chan did... We need Tenuta or Hatcher...

Chan's lifetime college HC record is 67-41: 62.0%

Johnson's lifetime college HC record is 107-39: 73.3%

Johnson has won the same number of games as a HC in college as Chan has coached as a HC in college (minus 1).

Oh yeah, if you include pro games as HC, Chan is 85.5 - 57.5 (one tie in World League), or 59.8%

NAVY is a nobody! It's not like we're hiring some guy whose record is inflated due to beating up on poor oponents. Navy dos not have much talent at all and yet they defeat similar opponents and hang tough/occasionally win against better competition.

Unfortunately, if PJ is the next GT coach, then Radakovich is in the unenviable position of trying to get out of a financial hole by selling tickets to non-GT fans to expand the fanbase, when GT fans themselves are worried about the offense being boring.

I do not know too many sales reps that would take or stay in a sales position like that. I suspect that DRad is gone because GT cannot develop or progress as a program without seriously addressing the financial gap that we face compared to the big state schools.

This coaching change was probably part of DRad's plan to improve the marketing of GT sports to current non-GT fans, thereby expanding the fanbase and reducing the financial handicap under which the GTAA operates. The GTAA has a budget that is tens of millions less than the UGA athletic budget, and we won't last very long if that gap continues (and actually the gap is widening).

I hope things work out for the best for GT on the field and financially, but I am seriously worried that the public perception of Johnson's offensive style will not help DRad sell tickets to current non-GT fans.

I am afraid that DRad is now in a lose-lose situation with regard to the GTAA finances.
