So, who are the new vocal team leaders that...

It will be Synjyns job to lose this fall at QB...and David Sims job to lose this fall at BB. Vad would have got a serious look this spring if he enrolled early...but is still good enough to push Synjyn and perhaps pass him within 2 years.

I personally think all 3 are going to get looks at QB. If Tevin is not the starter then I think that we are going to be pretty good at QB. Tevin has skills he just needs to refine them. Also, at BB I think Charles Perkins is going to be a force back there. Kid was a beast in HS and from what people around the program say is that he is only getting bigger, stronger, and faster. Hopefully another #21 to lead the way.

I've always wondered what effect running the scout team had on our backup qb's and if it hurt or helped their progress in PJ's offense. I've always tended to think it did little to prepare them for it. Now I'm starting to wonder if it helps all these "run first" dual threat guys get their passing mechanics down. Maybe Synjyn's passing has benefited from playing pretend pro-style qb. What say ya'll?
Interesting theory. Dunno if it's true or not, but I like it. :)

I haven't seen Days play a snap at QB, Sims play a snap a Bback, or Perkins play a snap at Bback/Aback. But damn.....the hype is exciting!

Agreed. Can't wait until next year to see these young players develop.

Have you seen Synjyn practice? How many actual games until he's at Nesbitt's level of running the offense (excluding the experience part).

And is Denzel going to see the field in 2011?

He evidently was not as good as TW. I do like hearing he's got the fire to be the best though.

What do you mean he wasn't as good as TW? There is no way you know that. PJ said if Nesbitt had got hurt earlier in the year he would have pulled Days redshirt.

There was some info circulating around ST through the season though that said had Nesbitt been injured earlier in the season, Synjyn would have shed his redshirt. Not sure if that was from a primary source or secondary source but that seems to me like it was close to 50/50 between Synjyn and Tevin.

Not to take anything away from Tevin though. CPJ said he's worked hard and deserved to start. Can't really ask for more then that.

I am not sure if you listened to CPJ's press conference two weeks ago (it was free on Rivals/JacketsOnline)...he reiterated what we had been told on the Insiders Board a month or so prior that they think there "is a particular position (BB) David Sims will be very good at, but he may have to play a little QB in the spring because of numbers." He also clearly indicated that Tevin would be "number one going into spring because it is the right thing to do buy Synjn Days will get a LONG look."
Guys...I really encourage anyone who can do it to get on the premium/insiders board on Rivals/JacketsOnline. I have been following recruiting and GT football very closely for 30 years and the information gets there so far ahead of public news it is not even close. You can tell Kelly Quinlan is talking to coaches almost every day and getting tons of inside. The audio interviews with CPJ, Bohannon, McCollum, Kelly, Speed, and Groh are all very telling as well.
It is not for everyone...but if you want detailed info ahead of scheduled on what is essentially a uncensored board...its a good place to be.
All GT boards are good for GT sports (with exception of bbuzzoff...sorry...have to draw the line somewhere!)...and they all have their place for fans.

Didn't CPJ said he might have burned Synjyn's redshirt if we needed Synjyn earlier in the year? That means at least Tevin and Synjyn are a bit close..

Also Tevin redshirted behind Booker in 2008. I think redshirt year does mean a bit as far as evaluation.

To speculate more, another factor could be that the injury happened during a game, where Tevin and Sims were the only ones who took the 2nd/3rd string triple option snaps. And then Tevin did well in the game justifying not burning a redshirt.

I have been told that if we were having a good year and Nesbitt was hurt early on in the season instead of late...Synjyn would have burned his shirt.

zippo...I am a paying subscriber at $99 per year and it is worth every penny to me.
I want to see such places do well for GT...it is good for the school if the Rivals Network thinks they need to continue paying attention to GT. For instance, last night there were 150 GT fans on the insiders board at the same time having fantastic and knowledgeable discussion....with great insight to the visit weekend.

+1 for Jacketsonline/Rivals. Very good info over there. I canceled my Scout subscription after seeing how much better things are over there. The $10 a month over there is well worth it. I know not everyone wants to pay, but I'd say give it a shot and I think you'll be impressed.

+1 No begging for info. needed either.

I'm interested in any opinions as to whether scout
or rivals is best for information. If you are only
willing to pay for one which should it be?

I will add my opinion. I subscribe to both, but if I had to subscribe to only 1, it would be rivals. Kelly and others do an awesome job over there...I think much better than scout.

Kelly does a good job at Rivals. Scout acts like a bunch of douchebags most the time.
