I care !! I'm not complaining over coming out with a "W" at all. That's insane. However I am saying that we did not play a good quality game. I also will still say that we didn't win it, UNC just lost it.

That's not bitching either, just a fact.

We have a pretty danged good football team at GT. Is it championship calibur team material, I can't say. I'd have to see us play an Ohio St., or a Sou Cal type team to get a good idea on that one.

But (that big ol' but) there are a few factors that keep popping up consistently. Our Special Teams need a lot of work, our pass defense appears to me to be very suspect, our QB, well, I'm not even going there. RB can be one of the top QB's in the land today, but tomorrow....watch out. The thing that bothers me about all this is, I don't see us improving in those specific areas as we should.

That's not bitching either, that's just a fact.

Yes, it's the best record this year as we've had in a while, and I'm very proud for our team for achieving this. There is DEFINITELY a sign of strong character gleaming from all of this and that just may be the BEST factor of all.

That's not bitching either, that's just a fact.

I lay claim to, and am an eternal optimist when it comes to GT. However I will also state facts as I see them. This DOES NOT make me any less a GT fan and I DO NOT feel I belong on that other website, what ever the name may be.

If this post speaks too harshly for our team, please forgive. But I'll bet Chan Gailey's words over this game will make mine look like a nursery tale.

Now, for the sugar over the vinegar; I'm saying that GT will no doubt prevail over Duke in a very strong fashion and I am saying that GT will MOST DEFINITELY beat UGA. Our back is off the wall in one manner, so now our guys can go out there and play ball and have fun doing it. I'm saying we will see some football calibur in the next two games that we haven't seen all year.

YELLOWWWWWWWWWW

I hope this board never turns into the Hive. Why the hell can't I be satisfied with what I saw about the team yesterday? Why can't I come on this board to discuss the utter abysmal effort exerted by our SA's and coaches yesterday? Why not? Because we won?

I'm happy we won, but if we don't fix what the hell is wrong with our team, we will get beat by UGA, lose the ACCCG, and get smacked in a bowl game.

If you wanted sugar coated crap on a stick and constant proping up of bad play, go to the Hive. You can get your fix in no time. The positive police will swoop into action and tell you how you are a whiner.

Well if asking what the hell happened yesterday and pointing out how unbelievavbly bad this team sucked is being a whiner, then go ahead and put me into that category.

Furman Scored 42 points on UNC. Their defense is horrendous. Now am I mad the game was close? No. They played Wake this year within 7 points. They played Rutgers close. They looked better than most teams against Notre Dame.

What pisses me off is we have a 4 year QB who should be out there LEADING this team and making plays and he looks like he doesn't give a crap. We had an offensive line who repeatedly made stupid mistakes and cost us field position. We had receivers who thought they could show up and their talent would prevail.

I thank God that we played a team where we could do all of this and still win. If we did this against 10 of the other 12 teams on our schedule, we get beat. And we SHOULD have gotten beat yesterday to a team with 1 win. That was to Furman in a 45-42 shootout.

In two weeks we play UGA. And I don't give a shit about any game prior to that one. I'm going to say this as plain as day... for this fan, Beating UGA THIS YEAR is imperative. Do so, and we justify our record and season. Lose it, and we were just a good team in a weak conference who failed again to beat our rival. All the pressure is on GT to win the game. UGA's got nothing to lose.

In my opinion, if we don't beat UGA, we really didn't accomplish anything more than what we've done in past seasons other than the fact that we'll go to the ACCCG and if we win, we'll have won a hollow crown.

BEAT UGA!!! BEAT UGA!!!! BEAT UGA!!!

Reggie, how do you want to go out? The fan base has a no love lost relationship with our QB. He leads this team to victory against UGA, and the majority of fans will overlook the sub par performances that have littered his career.

BOR, nice post.

I dont' think anyone is satisfied on here or at least I don't see it. We are happy that we have taken the next step to the ACCCG. People wanted improved offense, improved record well they have it and the season is not over with.

We never play well in CH, NEVER. I think that is the 3rd maybe 4th win up there since WW2. There are things to improve on and what I'm happy about is the remarks these players are saying. They are not happy either but a win is a win.

UNC was bad but played with a lot of emotion today and to our credit we did just enough. Is that complaceny? I think not. Hell I remember in my playing days that we all knew there were going to be days like yesterday but we would manage to pull it out and then go fix what went wrong.

It's called NCAA Football "anything can happen on any given day" Just asked the number 3,4 and 5 and 8 teams yesterday.

I celebrate with you and all the other Tech Fans out there today, Let's enjoy this and let the coaches do their job for the "Puke" game and then bring on the butt sniffers for the arse kicking they so richly deserve from us.

Enjoy this? That would be like enjoying a free cup of coffee that someone pissed in.

I hear you Fridgemover, but honestly... this season comes down to one game.... UGA.

I think we played like crap for the most part yesterday. But the specifics you mention I didn't see at all. Reggie may have played poorly, but looking like he didn't care? You must have missed him the camera shots of him on the sideline.

BOR, I know you're passionate and I know you care, but I really do wonder what you watch sometimes.

If Stateline were here, he would have already posted that everything you needed to know about how Reggie would play yesterday was answered early in the game when he took his helmet off and started mouthing off about a personal foul no-call on the carolina bench.

I thought he had been counseled thru his anger management or whatever issues, but apparently not. Once he loses his cool, he is done.
And yes, this scares me senseless with uga. You can be sure they will be working on him long before gametime, and once hatefest kicks off it will be merciless.

RB certainly has had his moments of not presenting himself with the poise and control of a four-year starter. I saw him mouthing off on a few occasions yesterday. Why he can't just focus on what he needs to do and leave the other stuff alone is beyond me. Let your O-line take care of that stuff.

He better find some poise quickly before walking between the hedges in Athens. You just know that because of his history against UGA (being pulled, the 4th down, the INT) that the Dawgs defense will certainly attempt to get him riled up and unfocused.

This certainly crossed my mind yesterday as I watched him bitc# to the ref about a little late bump out of bounds. I can see getting pissed off if your thumped hard out of bounds, but it wasn't even a hard hit. Just shut up, get in the huddle and get ready for the next play already.

I am very happy for the Coastal Championship, et al.

But I think part of being a fan is to analyze and talk about areas that we need to improve. Reggie is hurt and needs to be removed from the field. I am not attacking Reggie, just pointing out that he is hurt and ineffective.

We do not finish well under Chan. Right now, I am hoping we beat Georgia. I think it quite possible that we get blown out the last three games if Reggie can't get healthy.

And yes, Reggie has a focus problem. The injury gives him an excuse and he uses it I think. He is a four year starter that can't learn to stay focused and forget about the non call. With the injury, I just think too much is going on for Reggie to be a better player than number 2.

We have the best WR ever in the ACC, a first team RB, a first team FB, a good experienced OL and a future All ACC #2 WR. We have the parts but are totally unable to do anything in two and one half of our last four games.

Well, if you guys could get our team to play to their maximum potential while minimizing the potential of the opponent week in and week out, you would be coaching instead of posting here.

Let's not forget that arguably the best offense in the nation, Ohio State only scored 17 points against an Illinois team that let Purdue score 42 last week. And this terrible performance by OSU because their QB and likely Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith had a terrible day, going 13/23, 108 yards and 0-1 TD-INT.

In the same way, Reggie had a terrible day against UNC yesterday. UNC played blatent single-coverage on James Johnson all day, while dedicating everything else to stopping the run and Calvin. They knew that it would definitely be a blowout if they played us straight up in the run game, so they gambled by running a defense that could have let several big plays that game. Unfortunately, they were lucky that Reggie was terribly off yesterday. If Reggie just made, say, 2 out of those 8 or so long balls with a WR open way downfield, then it would have been a much different game.

Also, OSU trounced Northwestern yesterday 54-10. For OSU, that means the Ill. game was a short blip in their schedule. Before that game, they scored more than 30 points for five straight games.

Not that our offense is by any means on the same level of OSU's offense, but our offense has scored 24, 31, 27, 7, 30 and 31 in our ACC games before the UNC game, with our lone low-scoring performance being the Clemson debacle.

So I know that Reggie is capable of these kind of point totals and that, this year, he can usually complete at least a small percentage of those long balls to burn defenses for employing the UNC strategy. While many here assume he will play like that for the remainder of the season, history tells us that he can and probably will bounce back against UGA and Maryland/Wake/BC.

Hey folks, a win is a win is a win. It wasn't pretty on offense. Defense gave a little, but didn't break They really came through when they had to.

It is very simply....Defense won the game .......period.

I'll tell you what game I watched yesterday. I watched the game where Reggie got pressured on 3rd and 1 on our very first drive and rolls out with Calvin in the flats with a man on him. Instead of giving the best weapon in college football a chance to make a play on the ball, he throws it out of bounds. The same QB who practically cried to the refs for getting touched out of bounds. Reggie LOOKED like he had very little spirit.

Great post floridajacket, good teams have off days and our off day was yesterday. Let's just be glad that it was against UNC and not UGAy.
