So.....

Caring and giving 100% are two different things. Yesterday I saw a guy not give 100%, bottom line.

Is this board going to turn into the HIVE! All the bitching and complaining after WE WON THE FREAKIN GAME!

Go ahead and take shots at me and that's ok but sheesh I have never heard of so much bitching and moaning in my life.

Are you confusing the Hive with BuzzOff?:D

I am very happy for the Coastal Championship, et al.

But I think part of being a fan is to analyze and talk about areas that we need to improve. Reggie is hurt and needs to be removed from the field. I am not attacking Reggie, just pointing out that he is hurt and ineffective.

We do not finish well under Chan. Right now, I am hoping we beat Georgia. I think it quite possible that we get blown out the last three games if Reggie can't get healthy.

And yes, Reggie has a focus problem. The injury gives him an excuse and he uses it I think. He is a four year starter that can't learn to stay focused and forget about the non call. With the injury, I just think too much is going on for Reggie to be a better player than number 2.

We have the best WR ever in the ACC, a first team RB, a first team FB, a good experienced OL and a future All ACC #2 WR. We have the parts but are totally unable to do anything in two and one half of our last four games.

You're right MidAtlanta, before yesterday I was expecting that we could crush the Mutts over in Athens, but having seen the play of both teams and knowing that UGaG has a week off, I too am now only hoping that we can beat them.

Enjoy this? That would be like enjoying a free cup of coffee that someone pissed in.

I hear you Fridgemover, but honestly... this season comes down to one game.... UGA.

You know, my friend, I feel your pain about this game. I sat with my son and Army Jacket and his daughter in Kenan Memorial Stadium in shock for most of the game (and I'm very glad we made the trip!).

But I think your analogy is WAY WAY off base. Let's stick with your free cup of coffee as the basis. I suggest that it would be more like trying to enjoy a free cup of coffee that's only 1/2 full and perhaps not made exactly the way you like your coffee (and no, I'm not suggesting 1/2 full, 1/2 empty stuff).

Had we LOST the game I'd say your analogy was a lot closer.

It was indeed very hard to ENJOY the actual game while it was going on because there was no flow to it and very little emotion from either team or from the UNC fans. The play at times was brutal. So as a football game it was not necessarily a FUN game to watch. On the other hand I can very much enjoy the result of the game which was that we got a "W" which pushed us into the Coastal Division berth in the ACCCG.

It still amazes me at what pansies some of our fans are. We played as badly as we can and won, ugag played as well as the can and won, and now we have fans either giving up on beating them or "only hoping" we can win. So you go from confident to hoping in one week based on one game from each team? Actually the word I want to use isn't pansies, but I can't post the other one. Grow some and man up, or just go play with your dolls.

And don't confuse the above with those who have concerns about the offense, or are dissatisfied with how we played Saturday. Those are natural feelings and I agree with them. But to go from there to being intimidated by ugag is ridiculous.

Oh Christ. Do you play on the team? Do I play on the team? Does anyone who posts on this board play on the team? Grow some balls about being a fan? Lets all "MAN UP" and be a fan!! Can we dress up in football gear at the tailgate and scrimmage? We can "Man Up" on one another.

What a completely Gay statement. We're fans... we bitch and moan. Welcome to being a fan. Please make sure you take your free 'complaint form' pad at the door. You also receive a free complimentary mega phone in case people aren't listening to you... its called the internet.

Are we done "Manning up" on one another? Do I need to check my balls and grab my dick and say "WE WILL BEAT UGA!!"

Guess what cocheese... if we play in any way to the way we did Saturday... we're going to get our asses kicked by UGA. How will you swallow that pill? Get ready for it, because if Reggie and company don't get their acts together then we're screwed. I wish I could Man-up and get on the field. But my frame is a bit too old, too slow, and too fat to be effective.

Can we win... absolutely. Should we win... WE DAMN WELL BETTER!!! Will we win? Who the hell knows because we still are a Jekyll and Hyde team which is funny, because we were that 4 years ago too. All I'm saying is these kids need to focus and give 110% not this half ass shit I saw against UNC.

Lets pretend we've all "Manned Up" on one another and grew balls overnight. Lets pretend what this board's discussion would be like.

Me: WAY TO GO JACKETS, KICK SOME BUTT!!!
You: I hate the Dawgs
him: Jackets rule!!!
her: Golly gee, calvin sure is a great player.
him#2: Your right, he is a great player.
him#3: Calvin is my favorite.
him#4: Calvin will have a career day against UGA.
her#2: What can I say that's not already been said... mmmm... nothing.
me: Come On Jackets!!
you: Chan Gailey is my hero.

:::Birds chirping:::

Topics on the board will go from 6-10 a day to 1 a week.

It will look like the Hive.

Well, the fact is that Georgia Tech played last Saturday more like it has over the last few years, years in which we have been blown out by Georgia and have come close but just couldn't get it done and not like the Champions of the Cosatal Division that they are this season.
Georgia played Auburn like the SEC Champions that they were in two of the last five seasons, and not like the team that has lost to Vandy & Kentucky, and has had close calls against Colorado, Ole Miss, and Miss. State.
These are valid concerns......it is like both teams have two sets of personalities. Which personality is going to show up for each team on NOV 25th?
It may be no big deal to you because you live in North Carolina, but for the Tech fans that live in the state of Georgia it matters a lot. I want those Red and Black bastards beaten this year, I want to see them driven before us and hear the lamentations of their women. While I can surely appreciate the effort of the players and the special season that this is, winning the Coastal Div. and potentially both the ACC Championship and the Orange Bowl will just not be as sweet without a victory over Georgia. Five years in the wilderness is too long. Refer to my signature below.

Looking on the bright side, we generally have 2 or 3 let down games a year and have had 3 so far this year. Only one has cost us a chance at a W. If we can get Reggie well, our chances improve greatly for finishing strong. We won with TB starting against UCONN a last year. Surely we can beat Dukie with him with another year of experience with our OL and the talent we have over Duke. The question is would an off week for RB help his healing significantly?

Like it or not, but since Reggie's injury we really haven't been very good on offense and I do believe some of it is in Reggie's head. When you have distractions like injuries, you just have to shut down some other distraction and focus harder on the things YOU CAN DO. Reggie can't shut up though and hence why I agree with the earlier post that it is affecting his game.

I also would like to harken back to a thought I posted after the Clemson game. We stunk and Reggie was discombobulated, no doubt. But I couldn't help but notice that after we went down 17-0 or whatever, that Reggie's spirit all of a sudden improved. He was focused on TV on the sidelines and amazingly we drove straight down the field for a touchdown.

"Okay, we're back in the game..." and from then on we played like crap again, as emotionally we weren't in a hurry anymore. Clemson scored quickly twice and the game was over. Lots of coaching is about the mental part of the game and this injury has Reggie lost in my opinion. Like I said, 35% completion since Maryland isn't a Div 1 QB anywhere in America except Tech.

If we are to rely on Reggie playing at half efficiency, then at least agree that he should throw the long ball up for grabs when Johnson is in single coverage. Throwing it deep and away from anybody is doing this offense no good.

Just like throwing the ball out of bounds deep in UNC territory on 3rd and 1 was worthless too. These issues weren't here early in the year, now they are starting to resemble forgetting how many downs against UGA and late interceptions against UGA...

Sorry if I want to beat UGA this year... but Chan is making a big mistake by not playing Bennett.

the last few years, years in which we have been blown out by Georgia
Except that the Georgia game has come down to the wire each of the last two years.

Certainly, if we play like Auburn did against UGA, we will get blown out of the cesspool. I wouldn't give us a shot in hell either if Reggie threw only one more completion than interception.

But that probably won't happen against UGA. No matter what you think of Reggie, I'm sure he's still better than completing 4 passes, throwing 3 interceptions and having 35 yards passing, of which 34 would come on one play.

I don't know that I have ever known of a player in a position like Reggie is right now.

If he tanks one the next 3 games, his career always has pocketwatch's *.

If he wins at Duke, UGA and ACCCG. All negative memories are gone. Young girls from Dublin to Dalton will sing songs about him.

If he plays a big role in the next four games and we go 4-4, RB=legend. He will immediately become the guy who had the greatest guts and biggest heart in the modern era of GT football. I know Chan will make sure that is his resume. He will say it to Michelle Tafoya(sp?) with tears in his eyes on the side line in Miami after the game. I will buy it hook line and sinker. My grandkids will get tired of hearing about our magical 2006 season. We may even add another line to the Ramblin' Wreck about him playing with viral meningitis.

Nice story.

There is an old engineer I work with who absolutely HATES Reggie Ball. The other day I overhead him say "REGGIE BALL IS AN ASSHOLE!" He had told everyone that we wouldn't make it to the ACCC with Reggie Ball. Then he repented when it looked like we were going to clinch and said "WELL, IF WE DO MAKE IT THERE IT WON'T BE BECAUSE OF REGGIE BALL!"

MAYBE if we beat Georgia he will come around.

I'm a big John Smoltz fan, but I don't want him with the ball with a bad shoulder and a fast ball in the low 80's. I don't care how much heart he had, Smoltzie would get hammered.

RB is our only hope in the final 3, but he has to be able to run. That is his good fastball.
Unless CG is the best poker player in the world, Reggie needs a full week off. Let him suit up and make a handoff this week, and get him out.

I get it BOR, you're afraid of playing ugag.

Notice in my post I said having concerns is logical, and I have some myself. But that doesn't mean I don't think we will beat ugag. I always think we will beat ugag. I'm not afraid of playing them and I'm not panicked over what they did to Auburn.

My point is our fans swing back and forth from thinking we're MNC caliber to wringing their hands over who's left on the schedule. Being pissed about our performance in a particular game is fine. Worrying about Reggie's ankle or whether he will play well is fine. But that's not the same as giving up and declaring the season over. And if that describes you, you are a pansy.
