Sobering Thought

First off, **** you, 2nd off, sorry I care about the future.
I WANT TO BEAT UGAG EVERY FREAKING YEAR UNTIL THE END OF TIME AND I SEE CPJ DOING THAT FOR US.

first off, see your avatar? that is what id like to do to you some days

second, if you want to beat UGA how does worrying about CPJ taking another job help that effort? not at all

shut your pie hole and quit making prophesies that end up fullfilling themselves.

no way CPJ leaves after this year, so why not wait till next year to start worrying at least?

way to piss on a parade!

Quote from the original press conference: "There's probably not another team I would have left the Naval academy for."

CPJ wants to win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and as long as he feels he can do that here at GT, he'll stay.

CPJ has said before he plans on retiring and not being a Bobby Bowden coach-til-you-die coach. Based on that, his contract, the gobs of cash we're paying him, and his genuine desire to be at Tech, I would not be surprised at all if he stayed here 6-12 years and retired here.

CPJ wants to win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and as long as he feels he can do that here at GT, he'll stay.

False. He wants to win national championships.

Are you still talking?

I have not heard any of these quotes that are being put on this post and I am glad to read them. Feel free to go read the other, let me check, 20,608 threads if you would like.

False. He wants to win national championships.

Did he actually say that? I saw the quote in the other thread, but the "winning national championships" part was in quotes, indicating he didn't actually say it.

I have always been a Tech fan, but really didnt start watching Tech football until the Goose's last year.

I can not imagine winning a national championship.

Do you guys think that playing in the ACC could hurt us?
We would have to schedule that one big game to boost our strength of schedule, especially if UGAg goes downhill. Maybe a game vs. a USC, OSU, or someone. Of course, we do have Bama coming up in a few years. If they keep going under Saban, that could be our chance to do it!

No. If we had gone undefeated this year I believe we would be very close to the title game. Given a top 15 preseason ranking(this is likely to happen), going undefeated will likely get it done, especially because we will always have a quality SEC opponent at the end(another argument against moving the U[sic]GA game).

I think if we went undefeated up to this point, especially with two wins over the mighty SEC, we'd be playing for the national title. The current system is heavily slanted towards punishing teams for losses. Our schedule strength is decent, and we'd have just as many, if not more, marquee wins as Bama. In fact, we have made great strides this season in devaluing Bamas wins.

Anyone who goes undefeated in any BCS conference is highly, highly likely to get into the NC game.

"THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING"---and PJ is staying HERE--get ready for a DYNASTY!!

Hey Kevin,

(Sorry. Couldn't pass that up! :))

If we were undefeated right now, it would just be a matter of beating BC again and then waiting to see whether we're playing Alabama, Florida, or Oklahoma in the title game.

A few reasons why PJ won't leave:
Cherokee Town and Country Club
East Lake
Reynolds Plantation
Augusta National

He was once a 2 handicap when he was out in Hawaii. Plus, it doesn't snow here. Plus, half the high school coaches in Georgia played for him or for Southern at some point, and he's got ins in South Carolina, Alabama and Florida and North Carolina, too.
Why leave?

We need to be in Drad's ear. The fans and the boosters got Gay-ley fired, can we lock up CPJ??? YES!!!
You think you need to get in DRad's ear for him to know how important PJ is to him and Tech? Brillliant!

That makes sense, ignore it and hope it never happens.

And stop bringing things like this up? When have I or anyone else?

Its been mentioned now about 5 times in a month. GT fans are weak in this regard. We enjoy a little success, and they start acting like we are a 2nd tier program. I got news for you.

What good does posting this do? Nothing. You want to help the cause, send DRad some $$$ to go towards PJ's contract extension.

First, here's what I think about PJ. 1.) we don't have to worry about losing him to the pros. 2.) Yes, a bigger school may come calling, but the chances of that are reduced because of his unconventional offense. Besides, he's got some nice pieces in place here and I'm sure it would be nice for him to prove he can be highly successful at a non-football factory. At a football factory the question becomes is it the coach or the program? I think PJ thrives on this mentality.

Lets pretend you are PJ and Notre Dame came and offered you more money. 1.) How much more could they possibly offer that we could not match? Seriously? 2.) Why take over that mess? 3.) He's got the pieces already in place here to be very successful not at Notre Dame.

Anyway, food for thought. Act like your top tier, or you'll always believe you are someone elses biatch.

It ought to be mentioned that GT stepped up to the plate when we hired PJ at 1.7 million per year. At the time I was shocked that we went that high. I honestly thought our budget would go no higher than 1.3. Apparently, there are some big GT supporters willing to go higher.

Mentioned this on another thread, but one of my Tech buddies says there is a move on one of the other boards for T-shirts that tell schools to "Keep their hands off our Johnson!"

BTW, interesting article in the AJC regarding Taz and CPJ today.

Thanks BOR. I don't understand why people think we are second tier. Because we have academic standards? In the early days of the hive a frequent topic was how GT would never be able to land top tier DTs. Gailey (of all people) put that to bed.

We are:
A BCS program
In a top Conference
Surrounded by extremely high density of Div 1 talent
In one of the best places in the world to live
With excellent facilities

I will second BOR
1. We won't lose PJ to the pros
2. We are unlikely to lose critical assistants (like Foster at VT or Cutcliffe at Tenn)
3. IF we win a MNC, PJ will get FULL credit [Will Mack Brown ever be considered one of the greatest? NO! If he was pulling his current records at UNC he would be.]
4. the recruiting ties he built at GSU are not nearly as applicable everywhere else

My opinion on other decent fits for PJ would've been USC-east
Auburn
UNC

I really believe that we can, and will, match any college offer if necessary.

Also,

GT would've made the MNC this year if undefeated and last year with one loss.

I won't speculate on the ACC. If it gets better we will have more room for error (losses) and if it stays where it is or regresses we will have a very good chance of going undefeated.

IIUC, are we not the second highest ranked 9-3 team? This despite being unranked coming in. If there was a MNC game for 9-3 teams we would be in it. We won't start next season unranked unless we TANK the bowl.

It is a great time to be a yellow jacket!
