Some national attention!

Sorry to tell you, but College FB National section is just something that displays the most recent post on the other sections. It was written by Heather Dinich, the ACC blogger (if thats what you want to call her)

We'll know when we're getting some real national press when someone other than Heather Dinich at ESPN writes an article about us.

We'd also get some subjective and intelligent articles as well perhaps.

In her defense, she at least seems to like us. She's been giving us positive attention since the BC game. She still seems like she got her journalism degree by mailing in three proofs of purchases to Wheaties, but hey, it's better then the place where most of the AJC journalists got theirs from.

One of the advantages to being preseason ranked is that all the sports media will be covering us ad nauseum for the next 7 months. Sports coverage has evolved to only paying attention to the Top 25 teams.

Except for where she said we weren't at the level of a top 25 team after Gardner-Webb. Admittedly we weren't in that game but she should of been able to look between the lines. It wasn't until Miami I think that we actually got respect from her. Also, this aforementioned article is the first time she's written an article only involving GT since we lost the CFA bowl. Would you like to count the ones she has written about Miami and FSU? It's not that she's mean spirited, she's just incredibly fickle.

And I'll relish every minuet of it

It amazes me that some on here criticize when an article comes out on Tech, Yes it is a rerun but the more we can get positive press the better. You would not believe the attention span of most fans.

This is true, and I'm not criticizing the article or the fact that it was written. Just that I can't really appreciate the attention of a writer who will go one week praising a team then only mention them when it is for the ACC as a whole after they lose.

I for one love Heather. I think she does a stand up job of covering GT and the ACC in general. It's one extra place we can go to get some GT related stuff and she posts new stuff about us and our competition just about everyday. Can you say the same for many other online outlets?

Way to go Heather!

Well frack, *I* was saying the same thing and I watched that monstrosity in person. I was sure we were going to lose. Honestly, it's a miracle we won. We were vastly outplayed on both sides of the ball that day.

That game was sickening. I thought we were going to lose also...we played horrible and they played great...we should have lost. Gotta hand it to the team though, they stuck in there and skirted by with a win...

I never understood why so many blasted her during the season.

Shoot, she's not Pam Ward!

Give me a break. We WEREN'T the level of a top 25 team after that game. We looked awful. You wanted her to say nice things about us after that game? When you look like you suck, then people are going to say you suck. Welcome to the real world.

It wasn't until Miami I think that we actually got respect from her.
Let's see...predicting us to win the division outright? Terrible lack of respect. Just awful. I can't believe they even let her write this drivel. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/acc/0-3-17/Predicting-the-unpredictable.html She wrote a bunch more good articles about us before Miami, but I don't really want to bother to link them all.

Nothing newsworthy has happened with GT since the Chik-fil-a bowl. Miami has been hiring and firing, FSU has been extending Bowden's contract...geez, just look at how slow our message board has been. Hopefully our fans aren't over posting on FSU and Miami boards.

Mover is right about some fans' attention spans. She has been one of our biggest supporters all season. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.

We got a very poor initial impression of her when she opened her coverage of our first game wondering whether Taylor Bennett would be able to run the option. That poor impression was reinforced when she failed to spell check her blog for several weeks afterward.

She's alright in my book. Not great but not horrible either...I think they could find someone better, but let's face it, the ACC has not been elite lately...the coverage will always reflect the audience and the ACC simply doesn't have the same kind of fan numbers as the other conferences...

I'll admit she really isn't as bad as I've made her out to be, but she has just done a few things that I look at and say what the hell.

Just defending my reasoning in a few spots:
1. I know we looked bad after Gardner-Webb, but it didn't seem like she would acknowledge we were using a 3rd string QB in that game getting his first start ever (and he was a senior).

2. Most of the times when discussing how the ACC can get national recognition as a conference, she always talks in terms of FSU and Miami. Ever times its "when Miami and FSU get to former glory" when they aren't the only damn teams in this conference who had former glory. I mean look at ESPN's prestige rankings.

She really isn't that bad, she just does some things I find really annoying and seems to me (and I probably am alone on this) that she tends to pick favorite teams in the ACC from time to time, including us.

She also predicted Wake Forest to win the Atlantic and beat us. Not saying she was wrong to do it but look at the title of the article. Picking the division winners in the ACC was a shot in the dark every week.

She was a big supporter of us, but there are times where she drops us and jumps on someone else. I never meant that she thinks badly of us, in fact she usually thinks better of us but I dislike how she can be very "fad-ish" and flip-flopping on who she thinks is the better team (wonder where she would of placed us if we lost to UGA?)

She ranked us the #1 team in the ACC AFTER the ACC championship game. I think she was right, but for her to stick her neck out and say that was very impressive to me. She had to have known that VT fans were going to crucify her for that. She gets an A+ in my book.

She does a fairly good job of coverng the ACC but she's not an expert on any single team. She has given us props more consistenly than any writer you're going to find though and normally does have a clue about what's going on. if you look at her blog week to week, she thought more of us, earlier than almost anyone else. Tech fans ragging on Heather is just bad form. i mean, if we don't like her, there's no one we should like.
