I am amazed at how bad we just played. Every aspect of the game we looked like a very bad football team. We had a week off to prepare and we looked bad. I really thought this team looked fired up to be on the national stage and I thought we started off good. I guess the changing point in the game was the onside kick, but its pathetic that play changed the game, it was so early and only put them up by a touchdown but after that we didn't look the same.

We had plenty of chances to come back we never did capitalize. Just an overall very disappointing night and a sort of embarrassment to the Institute. National TV with the country watching we just absolutely stunk. I will post a report tomorrow, I think we need one. I for one am not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Thanks for posting. Might he get fired now? Why wait til after the UGA game?

Who will the next coach be?

Edsall?
Chow?
others?

Have a good night. Work should be ok; it will be a relief. It is over and time to move on.

look forward to it...i will be calling people in the AA as well

Dem,

Seems like a great bunch of kids, but I will be honest. By listening to the things they have said to the press this year and watching them play, I don't think they understand what it takes to be successful and I blame that on the staff.

Quite frankly, I believe this team thinks it is better than it is and this staff has done a poor job of helping them understand the type of intensity and attitude they need to be successful.

Chan has been one step behind in his years here at GT and that trend continues. I hate that it came to this but the time has come.

Absolutely wonderful kids, the best group I have ever encountered. This is a good team though, a very good team. We are not playing like it though.

I'm not going to answer these right now, Dan feels it is best to evaluate at the end of the season. We shall see. You can write your opinion to him at dradakovich@at.gtaa.gatech.edu

Dem,

I agree this may be the most talented overall GT team in many years, but it is not a team that can just throw helmets out there. We are very poor in a few positions and I think the kids need to understand that we don't have dominate personnel. We need to play at an entirely different intensity level to be successful and I just don't think they understand that, I'm not sure we have a HC that can get that out of this team.

Agree they cant just walk out there and win, they know that. These boys need to play loose though, just go out there and play ball. We set ourselves up for disaster. We have to be the ones to hit them where they hurt, not sit and hope they don't do the same to us.

I've said it before and I will say it again, its about controlling your own destiny, you cant sit there and hope, you have to take it from someone. That is our biggest flaw.

What bothered me the most tonight is the intensity we played with.

When the kids play that hard and lose that badly, I think the coach needs to admit that he utterly failed to convert that effort and that enthusiasm into a win. Or at least into a competitive game.

I mean it was just sad to watch those kids play as hard as they did and get as little out of it.

Wow! Well said, Dem! We just hope for the percentages, we don't realize that to win and achieve football happiness, you need to make someone else unhappy.

You can't always be the good guy - works in real life as well. As a parent, as an employer, as a friend, etc.

I would say that the only way Chan can keep his job now is to beat Georgie at the end of the year.

Dem... thanks for sticking with us, your insight and info is definitely appreciated.

I know you may not know this, or be able to disclose anything, but do you get the feeling D-Rad is making some moves in the background?

I realize you're saying the "decision" will be made at the end of the season, but surely he's lining up his options and preparing for the move right now, because at the end of the year there will be a lot of teams looking for new HCs and we may not be the most competitive candidate.

Not really going to speak on that but Dan is a very smart guy.

rambleON, there are ALWAYS teams looking for new HCs every year. I wouldn't say this year is any greater than any other. Look at last year with ASU, Stanford, Bama, BC, etc.

Dan is no slouch. He's definitely looked at candidates. He probably hasn't contacted them because in case Chan somehow pulled this season out. It's clear now that Chan won't be pulling this season out and we will be playing in the Nut bowl. I think it's becoming far more serious now.

Another note was at 8:45 left in the 3rd quarter we were still very much in it. If James makes that grab the game could of changed drastically as it would of been a touchdown game, we can all place blame on coaches but our upperclassmen need to make some plays. We also scored after a big reception in scoring position, we had plenty of opportunities and never capitalized.

For a lot of folks screaming for Chan's head, right now (me being one of them) a lot of timing issues need to be satisfied.

Dan is smart, and I have loved every move he has made, thus far. I have stated before that him getting rid of Louisville and adding Miss St. and Ole Miss were genius moves.

We will never be able to just drop a coach on a reactive basis (i.e. sub-par, apocalyptic let down season, 6th consecutive loss to ga, etc....). A better option has to be available. Within this option, the guy has to want to come to Tech, stick with us, and not use us as a springboard.

Dan is smart, but this will likely mean we are with Chan for a bit longer. It will be pretty pricey to get him off the books, and there has to be a quick, accountable return on the next investment. I would imagine he is banking on an increase in season ticket sales in the event of a coaching change.
