Some thoughts

Quote from the press conference

Gailey on Bennett:"I've got to do a better job of getting him prepared to play in games like this."

Dem, I know that Chan is masterful in the living rooms as a recruiter. In my opinion we need to make a coaching change. If this happens, how much will recruiting suffer? From a recruiting standpoint wouldn't we be better to make a move early as opposed to later?

Chan rarely goes on the road recruiting. He does for a few players a year but by no means is he the main guy in the players homes. I don't know where he got this reputation of a masterful recruiter. Look at his classes before he got giff involved. The only constant WAS CHAN. Giff was what changed...and kelly.

Recruiting won't miss a beat and may improve.

If that's the case, then he's got a ghost writer, because he's supposed to be in an off campus meeting right now.

No, it's more like when I'm in a meeting I give my full attention to the meeting and, in most cases, turn off (or ignore) the electronic distractions that keep me from focusing on the task at hand. Anything else is rude and disrespectful to the rest of those in the meeting.

As for him starting to respond early this morning. My hats off to him then. I haven't even made it through all the crap that's been posted on here since I left last night for the tailgate.:p

Just a joke - quoting Phil Hartman's SNL skit "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer".

I'm guessing he'll have carpel tunnel of the thumbs by noon if he plans on responding to ALL of the emails he has gotten via BB. I'd put the over/under at 300.

Understood. Just clarifying my position...which really doesn't mean jack in relation to this thread. And I have no intention of e-mailing DRad. His plate is full enough what with finding our ladies a place to play softball and plotting to eradicate my parking space. The last thing he needs are words of support for Chan from me.;)

I wonder what Dan's nightmare scenario is right now.... lose to VT, lose to either UNC/Duke, but beat UGA.

is a UGA victory enough to save Chan/get us off his back?

for me, no.

If we run the table, it comes to 8 - 4 with a win over UGA. Under that scenario, Chan might stay.

It's conceivable that we get victories over Duke and NC, provided we do not let NC get several scores early like everyone else has before we make half time adjustments.

But UGA? They have the QB, they have the receivers, they have the running back and they have the blockers. It ain't going to be pretty.

He's gotta win out. This has been discussed ad-nauseum. 8-4 and a UGA win.

The previous three years, I would have also said 8-4 with a UGA win would have good enough. Even BuzzOff guys said that would be "good enough."

But in previous years, we had one of the nation's tougher schedules. Our 2005 schedule in particular was brutal and our 2004 and 2006 schedules weren't walks in the park either. Good UGA teams (when we played them) every year. Good Auburn team in 2005. Good Miami teams in 2004/05.

This year, though, we have one of the weakest schedules out there. Past UGA, our only wins worth talking about would be Clemson and Miami. I can't see much redeeming there, even with a UGA win.

I am amazed at how bad we just played. Every aspect of the game we looked like a very bad football team. We had a week off to prepare and we looked bad. I really thought this team looked fired up to be on the national stage and I thought we started off good. I guess the changing point in the game was the onside kick, but its pathetic that play changed the game, it was so early and only put them up by a touchdown but after that we didn't look the same.

We had plenty of chances to come back we never did capitalize. Just an overall very disappointing night and a sort of embarrassment to the Institute. National TV with the country watching we just absolutely stunk. I will post a report tomorrow, I think we need one. I for one am not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Why are you not looking forward to work? Not like it mater's at this point. We will win are next two and get destroyed by UGA. Then we will all cross our fingers that the Chan era is over. :fingersx:

Chan is probably gone no matter what now that most of the fan base is against him. Even a win over UGA cant save him now. If he is back its just gonna be more of the same sh!t next year.

Also, I would think the coaching option would have to have a proven record of beating ga at least occasionally.
I completely disagree man. At this point, there is only one question that DRad should be asking himself, and that's "is Chan the man to take us where we need to be?" If the answer is no, he needs to move on. There is no need to KNOW that the next guy will be better, because that's an impossibility.

No one knows what anyone will do. People KNEW Spurrier would win at Washington...they KNEW Franchione would win at Texas A&M. The only think DRad can do is decide about Chan, then hire someone else if he makes a move. Plus making a win over ugag a requirement is dumb. What if he's never coached against them?
