Somehow, Some Way, A Coaching Change Needs to be Made Soon!

I have two GT degrees and don’t get the Tech man thing either really.
I’ve given a good bit of money to the engineering school, but find it hard to give a lot to GTAA while disagreeing with how they operate sometimes. I would have offered Collins 3 years automatically renewable to 5 based on decent progress (winning season years 3&4, bowl by year 5. So maybe it’s framed as 5 years with contingencies. No freakin way I offer an unproven P5 HC 7 years.
Anyway, we’re stuck.
I’ve imagined maybe TStan reading him the riot act along with very specific instructions on how he is to operate going forward.
I figured Collins would have to be a complete idiot to not get the message after the Citadel game. Ok yeah rebuilding, but not ok to look like a h.s. team while being out coached by someone making roughly 1/8th your salary. Maybe this will be discussed more explicitly now, who knows.
I agree. Why do we over commit to prevent an unproven coach from leaving. O'Leary is the last coach to leave for another job and he left for a non-financial reason. It would be nice to have a level of success that made our coach a target.

Yes, Tenuta blitzed, but overall, he sucked
He was great back in the day of more of a pro-set offense. Some of those defenses were phenomenal when he coached. His scheme was really exposed as a one-trick pony by today's spread. I think getting boat-raced by Fresno or whoever was a major sign for me.

We'll have more than that on Saturday but the majority will be from KSU. Had planned to go myself but I'm not wasting a day watching this product.
I certainly can't blame you, but I will be there cheering on the TEAM. To hell with our lousy coaches though

Agree Pianoman. The Tech Man thing is an albatross. How about we go get a football coach. You know, the kind that doesn't have 404, ATL, Money Down, Waffle House, Juice Crew, Rap Music, Culture everywhere, so when you lose to the Citadel and Northern Illinois you don't call even more attention to yourself as an overhyped moron and make our program a laughingstock.

This is not meant to bring politics into this discussion, but an example of something that actually happened at other games throughout the country this past weekend, where thousands of fans, including students, in the stadiums began chanting in unison, "F*** J** B****". I would sure join in loudly at BDS Saturday chanting "FIRE GEOFF COLLINS!!!"

I hope we win but if we do, what really do you have or what has changed? I respect and appreciate all those that stick with it. I simply do not find watching what we are producing enjoyable any longer.

I’ll be there on Saturday, but my heart’s not really in it. Maybe if/when we show some ability to compete I’ll get invested again, but for now, my interest is at its lowest point since before Joe Hamilton started playing.

Recent topic inspired a question for all of you. Which is the more harmful thing to do for a program? Go to the game but holding a sign saying to fire the coach or booing or something? Or to not go at all?

Not trying to get political here, but just relating something that happened last weekend to what should happen at Tech games. Throughout the country last Saturday thousands of college football fans were chanting em masse "F*** J** B****", including students. I would love it if we TRUE Tech fans would start a "FIRE GEOFF COLLINS" chant Saturday, especially if we lose.

Someone needs to convince him to do a DUI PSA a la CCG, so we can let him know how we feel.

T-Dope doesn't strike me as this guy. He comes across as pretty milquetoast. Like you said, wtf offers an unproven HC a 7 year deal? If Collins wouldn't have accepted a 5 year deal, move on to someone else.

Besides, T-Dope could read Collins the riot act. Collins can shrug and say whatever he wants. T-Dope doesn't have the $14 million required to get rid of him. And if you are dumb enough to offer a 7 year deal, you are probably dumb enough to believe whatever Collins is telling you that is going on behind the scenes.

GoJackets89, you make a good point. It would be cheaper to hire better coordinators than to pay a king's ransom to have Collins fired. However, you are still left with a bad head coach. The assistant coaches still answer to him.

GO JACKETS!
Agree wholeheartedly - Collins is an excellent recruiter and maybe a motivator, but is not good at the X’s & O’s. Unfortunately, neither are Patenaude, Thacker, and the special teams/kicking game coach. Assuming they don’t do a miraculous turnaround and win 5 or 6 games this year, Stansbury should mandate that first order of business this off-season is to find new coordinators. Collins would likely do fine as a non-hands on manager, more like a GM in the NFL.
