---dumbfounded and hurt. Seen a LOT of Tech football---but---well--I mean--ah HELL 692 TO and lose??? Feel sorry for the D. May be alooong season. We've had them before unfortunately. Can't really comment further---SPEECHLESS.

Forget reality for a second.

It's losses like these that deepen the very real perception out there that GT is a second rate program. THIS, among other things, likely impacts recruiting of players and coaches, alike.

Fortunately losses like this only matter if the rest of the season goes the same way. Nobody outside of this fanbase who knows we won the Orange Bowl in 2014 knows we lost to Duke and North Carolina back to back. Today was a really stupid game, a lot of really stupid shit happened, we shot ourselves in the foot more than anything and let a second rate George Godsey wannabe run wild like Woody Dantzler or Maryland or somebody. Hopefully the injuries aren't too bad, some of the problems we saw can be fixed, others (like Marshall's ability to pass) maybe not so much. I understand it's a Saturday afternoon after a bad loss and that's prime time for weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. This loss hurt really damn bad and did not have to happen, but all is not yet lost.

Plus, it is what it is.

It will need considerable improvement be a second rate program.

Arizona passed on Niumatololo because they were concerned that players wouldn't like the system. They just lost 45-18 to Houston.

What in the hell does that have to do with anything?

We are in the state of Georgia, with some of the best high school players. If you cant get the top guys from the state because they dont want to play in your system, then its a problem.

It really does make sense to hire less successful coaches than CPJ, who tutored undear him, and know less about his O than he does. Oooooh, yeah.

Makes perfect sense if you work at numbnuts Ga Tech administration.

Just curious, do you really think the system is the main issue? How long would we have to run the spread before the state's best start picking us over UGA/Clemson?

Neither Monken nor Niumatololo run Johnson's offense. Both use a lot of shotgun and run their own version of the option. And either could potentially improve recruiting. Just because they run some option doesn't mean "more of the same".

And if your standard is finding a more successful coach than CPJ, good luck. Show me a guy that has won multiple national championships (at any level) as a coordinator, multiple national championships again as a HC, turned one of the worst FBS programs in the country into a 10 game winner, and been to two New Year's bowls.

Yes, I think the system is an issue. The only HS in GA who still runs the flexbone is Marist, and even they are passing more this season. The elite programs and players want nothing to do with this type of offense.

Kids want to go where they can win, and display their talents for the next level. Take Justin Fields for example..he's from metro Atlanta, and a mobile QB. Tech offered him, but do you seriously think a kid with offers from Bama, LSU, UGA and Auburn will take Tech seriously? He's a 5 star with hopes of making the NFL and getting rich. When was the last time a CPJ QB went to the NFL and didnt have to switch positions?

If Tech were to switch systems, it could take 5-9 years before the best players in the state would want to come to Atlanta. You would have to have success and sustain it for a few years before the 4 and 5 stars would want to come. Until then, we can continue to be satisfied with the 2 and 3 star players and pretend that they are good enough to win the ACC and make it to the playoffs.

If you think a 5-star is going to chose GT over Bama, LSU, UGA or Auburn based simply on what coach we hire you are seriously outside of your mind.

When's the last time Tech had an NFL QB at all, regardless of system? This is not new. We weren't bringing in 5 stars before CPJ and we won't be after he's gone.

What 5 stars were picking UGA and Clemson before they built their program up idiot?
What part of my statement about it would take damn near a decade and successful results on the field to get those guys, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER TEAM? you have to start winning before they come, and I said it will take time for that to happen.
