Stanford's List of Easy Classes for Athletes

you don't think that tech has some kind of similar list for athletes? considering our average football player is probably even dumber than theirs, and unlike stanford, we don't have tons of course offerings in wishy-washy fields, i'm almost goddamn certain we do have a list of some sort

Link to said statement backing this up? I am calling BS.

haha, I'm an AE major, I know.

Yes.

Advice for making AE easier. Check to see if you can still take ME fluids classes as electives. They are the exact same classes as aerodynamics. So you can double up on the credit hours and instruction, for the same course. The finals are even the same.

Note, don't do this if you stink at aero.

Watch out now. You guys know Mtrain beats off to Luck, Harbaugh and Stanford.

ID 2202 was strictly about memorization. Pain in the ass, but not hard (if you are good at memorizing what a stapler looks like)

I don't believe that just because a class is an easy A, its worthless. There are probably lots of good teachers out there who don't mind giving out many good grades, yet still teach a good course and help students for life.

That was definitely the case in MBA. Had some absolutely horrendous teachers that made it impossible to get an A, and others that were great and the entire class got A's seemingly.

I'd imagine Stanford has a few profs that are solid but not necessarily sadistic.

My Psych class was pretty worthless.

Anyway, athletes get to register before everyone else. That means they get to pick the easiest teacher or get into the easy electives before they fill up. when I was there there was basically one class that was English for athletes. Regular students could hardly get in because it was full before the "normal" registration process began. Somehow I made it in and the teacher basically brought in O'Leary and some AJC reporters to talk to us each week. It was pretty sweet actually. Not so much for the teaching, but pretty sweet regardless.

Speak for yourself. History of Chairs was tough. I'm graduating this semester w/ highest honors and got a B in it.

Does Medina by any chance still teach that class? I took her history of art classes and the phrase "Makes use of" is still stuck in my head to this day.

I wonder how easy the A's really are. The classes that I had with athletes in them (Poly Sci, Intro to film) were definitely easier than my engineering classes, but you still had to do quality work to get an A.

When I had Bynum for Intro to Film, I think he was getting some pressure to lower his grades and as a result the athletes in the class who turned in papers filled with 5 word sentances still got A's and alot of students turning in quality work and participating in class got B's...It was still an enjoyable class but watching a couple dumb as rock baseball players get A's while I got a B irked me a bit.

You don't need a list of courses at GT because there aren't that many non-engineering courses. Just exclude the courses that are part of engineering majors and that pretty much sums it up. It's not like having to wade through 50-60 non-science majors. There are what, 7 at GT?

Is 'Crocks for Jocks' still offered? Don't recall the Ceramic Engineering course number but it was an easy A that always had a few athletes during my tenure. I took it after a not so stellar overload quarter to boost my GPA.

I didn't think that it's only Stanford among the good academic universities that do some guiding like this.

I still don't understand why our athletes don't study something like HTS or STC? Wouldn't they be easier than Management?

Yeah I know, management can be a lot more useful. Do the athletes themselves think management is more useful or does the GTAA emphasize this?

Nobody at Stanford gets lower than a B.

My wife has a masters degree from there, said it was easier than GT undergrad.

I have a masters degree from Tech, which was harder than GT undergrad.

No way Tiger Woods could have slayed all that pussy in California while having to study!

It's simply inconceivable.

sample of their majors? Isn't management > most bachelor of arts ?

Yes, every one of our management students is superior to anyone in a non-technical or liberal arts major at Stanford.

WTF dude, that was the easiest A I ever got. Medina was a snoozer though. How hard is it to memorize like 10 chairs and who made them and what period it was from?!

While word around the AA/etc might be its more useful, I think innately a lot of football players think its more practical too. And something they will like more. I mean, just guessing here, but I would imagine that if polled, more football players would want a career in sales/management/etc than law, diplomacy, or public service/government.

Their walk-ons are definitely very smart, but I am not sure if I can compare the non walk-ons by just major. If I had to guess, I would say Stanford players are smarter or better academically, but that's without specific data on athletes.

Really simple when you add in the fact that she never changed her tests from year to year. Word in that class was clutch.
