State of the Program: Duke University....

We play eight teams each year from the conference.

Let's take a Duke and say it loses all eight games, but wins the four OOC games for a 4-8 record.

Question: If we expand to a 12 team league, do we only have to play five other ACC teams, or is there a set amount of conference games that have to be played?

Assuming we do not have to play all eight conference games, but have to play only six games. Duke could lose all six conference games, win all the OOC games, and have a record of 6-6.

It seems expansion could help Duke, or any other team in the conference, if that is the case.

What is the rule on quantity of conference games that must be scheduled?

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">To play only the other 5 conference opponents in a particular division would leave too many non-conference opponents to schedule. Notre Dame would love that scenario but I'm not sure many other schools would benefit from that.

My best guess would be the other 5 divisional teams and a rotating 2-year schedule that selects 3 other conference teams in the other division. (Doesn't the SEC have 5, plus 2 permanent from the other side, and a rotation of 1 other?)
