Summarize Tech Football the Last 2 Months

TStan going cheap on a transition crew for three years and forcing Collins to honor existing 2019 commits did a lot of damage. Also, Collins should've gotten a real QB to bridge things the second he got here.
Real QB? He had 3 good ones on the roster. I think the issue is more lack of a solid OL, don’t you?

It is fourth and goal from our own two yard line due to a delay of game penalty, 3 false starts, a fumbled snap and a slew of personal fouls, all right after a timeout.
But the juice crew is still dancing!
Some coaches that don’t matter left and were replaced in kind. We got a RB from Buffalo, and if that excites you then maybe go back to sleep.
Always find it interesting.....several years ago if we flipped a recruit the skeptics would say something like, "well look at his offer sheet we are in trouble if we are stealing our recruits from Richmond, Ball State, etc." Now these same people are giddy over a transfer from Old Dominion, Buffalo and the like. Funny how allegiance changes perspective.

I think there is a bit of difference between recruiting a potential freshman with those offers over getting a guy who has proven himself pretty successful at one of those places.

Maybe but I do not think that the transfer from Old Dominion last year, that excited so many, ever saw the field. If he did, certainly didn't make a noticeable contribution. And rushing for a 1,000 yards at Buffalo against MAC competition certainly doesn't compare to the competition that will be faced at any P5 school, much less one that will face UGA, Clemson, Ole Miss, etc.

White was injured almost the whole season which is why he didn't play. He had several games played against ACC caliber teams previously where he dominated the opposing player.

I am skeptical but time will tell. Hope he proves to be what so many claimed when he transferred in.

There used to be a wide gap us & between Buffalo, ODU, etc but now not so much. We're stealing talent from Teams just like us is the difference. Makes a huge difference.

Thanks for the responses, even the posts that were tongue in cheek. Doesn't look much more promising or much worse since a couple months ago. I just want us to not be terrible.

Sure OL is probably the biggest issue but I imagine it's easier getting a veteran QB that wants to come in and is ready to pick up the offense over an entire line.

I had an '85 Caravan that was a lemon. Blew head gasket at 75K miles.
Oh yeah, I had a 1981 Plymouth Horizon. If you looked at it really hard, something would break. Amazing how terrible they could make a car. Tech went 1-11 that year.

One bright spot is that 2 players from that atrocious defensive secondary we watched last season are being discussed in NFL draft predictions, Thomas and Carpenter. I don't think anyone thought we had NFL talent back there just a few months ago.

Both cpj players

That doesn't make sense. If he was always the transition crew, we shouldn't have given him the long contract we did. Tstan just whiffed on the hire.

Face it, another incompetent GT AD royally f'd up. It's not any more complicated than that. The stooge is prancing around laughing and smiling while his 2 primary revenue sports are getting spanked by perennial ACC weaklings and embarassed by schools you have to google to figure out where the hell they're located. It's mistake, after mistake, after mistake. We're going to end up in D1 Div 2 football as the big boys reorganize the NCAA $$ & GT fans are going to wonder how the hell we ended up on the outside looking in. We'll probably stay in the ACC as a basketball team and all the sports that nobody really gives a crap about, but we're going to be playing the Wakes, Vandys and Northwesterns of college football within the next 5 years when we get kicked to the curb.

I don’t consider Collins part of the “transition crew” I was referring to. Does it make sense now
