After a quick slice and dice of some stats, here are some interesting takeaways:
Almost all of our opponents to date have hit their season-high yards-per-carry rushing average against us (not incl their games against non-P5 teams).
Syracuse's running game has apparently woken up over the last couple weeks. Over their last 2 games, they are averaging over 6 yards per rush.
And here is the most baffling stat of all time: Over their last 5 games, Syracuse has rushed for over 900 yards. But over those 5 games, they only have 4 rushing TDs. That works out to about 1 rushing TD per 230 rushing yards (which is abysmal). Tech, by comparison averages 1 rushing TD for every 108 yards on the ground.
So it looks like Syracuse has the ability to run up and down the field on people and, given that pretty much everybody we play sets their season-high yards-per-carry average against us, its a safe bet that they will run against us. And run, and run then run some more. But here is a bright spot. The Orange's yards per carry avg based on field position increases from 4 to 7 from their own 1 yard line to the opponent's 20 yard line. So the closer they get to the end zone, the higher their ypc. Until they hit the red zone where it plummets to 2 ypc. This helps explain how they have so many rushing yards but so few rushing TD.
Which is a long way of saying they are going to drag us all over the field but pretty sure we can keep them out of the end zone. I hope.
Almost forgot:
Gold: 41
Yellow + just enough RED to turn it orange: 19 Yes, RED. Hide it in yellow all you want but will be some RED in our stadium on our field.
