We have a ton of DB talent on the roster, many of whom were “4 star” DB’s. Given CGC’s coaching of the DB’s and his past success at the position, I am excited for the future of the defensive backfield:

Gentry Bonds
Tre Swilling
Kaleb Oliver
Jaytlin Askew
Jaylon King
Juanyeh Thomas
Wesley Walker
Ajani Kerr
Tariq Carpenter

Loaded...

Isn't Zumari Walton a DB too? Avery Showell, too?
Think about Juanyeh being a 3 star - with three TDs of at least 77 yards last year (should have been four) and none of those coming on offense.

DB is the strength of the team the next few years. Again (especially on defense) this is not a depleted roster. Juanyeh/Swilling/Carpenter/Oliver will be the backbone of one of the better DB units in the conference the next 2 years. Should be decent up the middle at DT and MLB too. Gotta find those rush ends.

They will also be playing a lot of ST. We’re going to block some kicks and punts.

I've seen very few of our DBs that look to me like they have the athletic ability (for DBs) to play press coverage effectively. Is that not what CGC likes to do? Certainly Tre S. can and maybe a couple more, but not sure about that even. I don't know a lot about it, just looks that way to me, all IMO of course.

Whether it was the pass rush, overall defense, or the scheme; 3rd and long always scared me to death.
