Already preppin'! :p;)So hell, I could be drunk the day beforehand. Woot.
For sure, I don't expect us to go undefeated. But like you said it's nice to have a team with coaches and leaders who believe that we can.

honestly guys.... is it not just a TAD BIT unrealistic to hope for a NC when you aren't even ranked in the top 25 to start the season?
when is the last time a pre-season unranked team won a national title?
We're fans, we're allowed to be unrealistic.honestly guys.... is it not just a TAD BIT unrealistic to hope for a NC when you aren't even ranked in the top 25 to start the season?

Colin Peek played a lot of downs for the Yellow Jackets his freshman season 2 years ago. He redshirted last year and is a RS-So this year.Is this the same Colin Peek who has not played a down for the Yellow Jackets yet?
so, if true... it happens once in 16 years? the odds aren't very great of it happening again.
no, i understand.Maybe you misunderstand.
ACTUALLY, you are very wrong:GT is ALWAYS underrated pre-season, unlike ND who is ALWAYS overrated.
most of the media surrounding ND does not come from ND alumns if that is what you are insinuating. media surrounding ND is so prevalent b/c ND draws great ratings... love em or hate em... they produce revenue. It has to do with the fact that we don't have a journalism school, and you do.
i didn't say Tech didn't have a chance. i said it's highly unlikely. i'd like to see the history of exactly how many teams have won NC's when they werent ranked in the preseason. i'm sure statistics will say that the chances are slim indeed. you read too much into my statement and deduced something that i never intended -- you took my statement to the extreme. read my words at face value. So saying Tech has no chance at a NC because we're not ranked pre-season is a hollow argument.
actually, ND hasn't been ranked in the top 25 for the past 17 seasons. if you take the 17 seasons where they WERE ranked in the top 25, 1988 would be one of those seasons. regardless, you just made the point that if a team is ranked in the top 25, they should win the NC. you tried to negate my post and make a point, but you left it too open-ended. being in the pre-season top-25 doesn't guarantee a NC... but, historically, being in the top-25 exponentially boosts the odds.I could just as easily say that ND has zero chance of winning a NC because they've FAILED win one in the last 17 seasons that they were ranked pre-season, including that season that Tech won it.
How's this for a statistic:prove me wrong through statistics if you disagree.
What I am proving, very clearly, is that Georgia Tech is an outlier to the trend you're referencing, and thereby not subject to its indications.
Yup.in other words, an anomaly.
Sure, because starting rank is usually somewhat indicative of a team's talent. But that's never been true of Tech, because we have zero journalists, UGA has a zillion journalists, and the northeast / west coast media markets pump up their darlings pre-season.and while, i agree that starting rank is irrelevant, history shows that ranked teams have a MUCH higher chance at winning NC's.
