Taylor Bennett being pressured by good punts rather than saved by them

Georgia Tech effectively booted him out. There are people out there who actually blame him for leaving? My GOD. This is a KID who wanted to play quarterback, so he went to a place where he could do that. Yet there are some who expect him to ride our bench so that he can remain "a Tech man," whatever the hell that means? The team wouldn't be one iota better had he stayed. Therefore, he did nothing bad to Georgia Tech.

Just out of curiosity, what is the complete definition of "Tech man?" See if you can craft one that doesn't exclude two of the ultimate Tech men in my book, Bobby Dodd (not a Tech grad! gasp! a lowly Tennessee man!) and Bobby Cremins (gasp! a South Carolina grad who left Tech!)

Tech Man = Kim King, Bill Curry, George Morris, Pat Swilling, Rock Perdoni, Lil' Joe And So On.

If Bill "I'm going to Alabama because Georgia Tech can't win a National Championship" Curry is a Tech Man and Bobby Dodd isn't, then I'd rather NOT be a Tech Man.

***EDIT AFTER CONTEMPLATION*** Of course, I should give more credit to Bill Curry; he was right. If he had stayed at Tech, we wouldn't have been able to win a NC. Funny, same thing happened at Alabama... Now he has the perfect coaching job for him: One in which there are NO GAMES.

I have a theory on this. The short version is that I think Dodd encouraged Curry to take the job because he thought both Tech and Curry would be better off.

Dodd never said that - its my opinion. But I think I'm right.

At the time, I was livid. I was a ferocious supporter of his and felt stabbed in the back when he left. But, in retrospect, I think everything worked out for the best and have come around to giving Curry the respect he deserves.

And Big John isn't excluding Dodd. Seriously, dude.

You are right, Coach Dodd did advise Bill on taking the UA job. As you were, I was pissed to find out and held it against him for a few years. Once I got the story from him I completely understood why he took it.

Thanks for confirming it. I have been carrying that question around for a long time.

Crap! That rb Lousana Tech has is knuts! How much eligibility does HE have left?

At the risk of committing heresy, why be pissed at Curry for taking Dodds' advice and going to Alabama but not be pissed at Dodd for so advising him? I remember Coach Dodd with deep respect and affection but it seems we are being unfairly selective here, remember how we used to feel when he punted on third down?

My interpretation is that Dodd knew that Curry could not enjoy tremendous success at Tech, so he sent him off to Alabama where he would accomplish many Curryesque things, such as taking the word "Hell" out of "Rammer Jammer Yeller Hammer Give 'Em Hell Allabammer" and never beating Auburn.
