Taylor Bennett

Agreed.

I must say I was happy to see him air a few out last weekend. Even though he only connected on one or two of the long ones...he's at least going for it now.

He will be more involved in the offense this week, there will be a few new wrinkles to get him in the game, he will play QB not another position.

Here is the TRUTH-
TB is doing just about where most thought he would do-not good but not bad,he wasn't the BIG reason we won or lost these 3 games
Unfortunately as the QB he is going to have to WIN some games not just "not lose" them VERY soon-maybe even this week.

Taylor's been a little more inaccurate than I thought he would be, at least in stretches. The biggest thing that I think is holding him back though is hesitation. I think he's seeing things, but doesn't have the confidence yet. He needs to just read and rip. Hesitating will kill you even if you make the right decisions.

Taylor will never be a great QB. He will be better than Ball and just a little worse than Godsey. He has the tools to be mediocre. If UF has shown us anything, it's that you can win a MNC with a mediocre QB (Chris Leak).

Bennett will end the year better than mediocre. He may never be great, but he will most certainly be good. He has shown signs of "good-ness." As the year goes on, he'll progress.

Quite frankly, BC's defense was considered too good to be risk trying something this radical, so a more conservative game plan was implemented. This is not a trick play to thrown in once a game, but will be a standard part of the offensive package. Plus another week of practice under the belt to implement it.

Sounds good to me. Who's your source?

beej67,
knew he couldn't ignore GTL forever

:laugher:

Good is all relative. He'll be better than Reggie but that doesn't make him "good" in my mind because Reggie was very bad.

If you rank Reggie among QBs who were starters for 3-4 years, yes he would be "very bad", but QBs who are in truth "very bad" don't remain starters. For better or worse, Reggie was just barely good enough to hang onto his starting position.

*sigh*

We'll have to see how the season plays out. I think Taylor could have a wonderful season IF we pass enough and he is able to get in a rythmn. If we rely on the run a lot, well, I think he'll be good enough.

"just a little worse than Godsey" = great

Yeah, that comment by GTKyle wasn't well thought out at all. I'd take a QB "just a little worse than Godsey" every year for the rest of time at GT. Godsey is right at the top of the all time GT record books in most passing categories if you hadn't noticed kyle. He was a great college QB, especially before the knee injury.

I'd say a little worse than great is good... ;)

So if a little worse than great is good, why did you say he has the tools to be mediocre? Like I said, not a well thought out comment at all.

One of the ones he "aired out" long he should have thrown in the middle.

He threw one up to bebe (a great play by #27 dejuan tribble to knock it down) where someone was WIDE open about 20-25 yard downfield. This happened from left to right on TV and TB was throwing from our own 35-40 yd line and bebe was around the 10-15. Someone was cutting over the middle around the 25-30 and no one was within 15 yards.

One of the only poor decisions that I saw TB make in the game. Other than that miss--I thought he did a great job.

WOW!! Still watching replay---At 11:33 in 4th quarter. TB throws an Awesome pass to DT from our own 40 down to the 12! Don't remember that from the game but a great play. DT pulls it down holding it like a loaf of bread.

If he had thrown that another 5 yards=TD.

I had a GREAT view of that catch from my endzone seat. If only he had not stepped out he would have ran it in.
