TC injury

Jacketup,
There is no question that Chan has his style of football. You can look around college or the NFL and see teams that use the exact same style. I live in Baltimore and watch the Ravens. Tech and the Raves are identical. Absolutely identical.

To suggest that Chan is just old is silly when you see his defense as the most aggressive in football, anywhere.

His demeanor and style certainly does not create excitement in the program. I think he is guilty of not trying harder on this front, particularly since it's college and emotions matter a lot more. But his style is just what it is.

Personally I don't want us to become like Texas Tech or a slew of other schools. Their style, is their style and certainly is the exact opposite of ours. But I think you need to keep things in proper context.

Grant hasn't said a word about his injury in several interviews after the game, so I don't know where this "high akle sprain" crap is coming from. We have enough at RB for what we need to do.
I heard it on the post game show. But we'll know by next Thursday (at the latest) whether it's true or not.

Jacketup, I wonder if you watched the BC game. You seem to be a bit out of touch with our team this season, and the way Matt Ryan fed us our asses on a platter. No amount of offense from us could have stopped the way they moved the ball. I'm not saying we couldn't be much better than we are right now, we would probably be 6-1, but to say we would have won the BC game with a better offensive coach is just ludicrous.

Likewise, if you have watched some of our wins(namely, Clemson and Miami), you would notice that our secondary consistently gets burned, play after play. When you are playing mediocre to good teams, that isn't always a problem. But when you play a very good team(such as BC), they will make you pay for it. We could be much better than we are right now, but our team does have problems besides coaching, and if you can't see that I think you are just thinking wishfully. I, too, think Gailey needs to go, but he is not the only thing that ails our program this year.

I wonder who didn't watch the BC game. They scored 24 points on us. In modern college football, that is less than an average score for a winning team. Ryan is a good QB, which completely SUPPORTS my point: there will be some games where you have to outscore the other team in a shootout. Chan cannot win those games.

Back to BC. We only lost by 14. BC stacked the box and dared us to beat them through the air. We couldn't. You can't always win by running the football. You have to find the matchups that you can win, and exploit them. That may mean throwing the ball 40 times a game. Gailey does not understand this.

Virtually every college team has talent weaknesses. This is especially true at schools like GT that have academic limitations on recruiting. If that is the excuse this year, it will be the excuse every year. I have been following GT closely for 38 years, and it could be the excuse for 35 of them. It is why we have to be better coached. It is also why we have to be more risk taking on offense. Gailey's conservative crap is going to get you 7 wins a year. If that is what folks are satisfied with, then fine. Just don't count on beating UGa even the 3 out of 10 years that we have averaged over the 3 decades before Gailey came. His conservative crap will only beat more talented teams that make enough mistakes to beat themselves (Clemson), and well coached teams who are also talented rarely do that.

I will agree that our recruiting was pretty poor for the 2 years before this year's freshman class. That poor recruiting is showing up on the field, especially at DB. A lack of talent at CB is hard to cover up. Even JT can't do that.

However, only Chan Gailey could take Calvin Johnson as a sophomore and produce the number 109 out of 119 pass efficiency ranking. Guess it was because of a lack of talent at WR.

Everything you said is true, except I would disagree with what you are taking from the final BC score. I would say the game was not nearly as close as the score implied. While 24 may be less than the average winning score, you have to take other things into account. Like you say, Gailey runs the ball a lot, which will mean less plays and less points for BC. Not to mention we were ineffective on offense, so BC didn't necessarily need to try to score a lot.

Matt Ryan was 30-44 for 435 yards in that game, and every pass looked effortless as he sliced up our secondary. Their biggest strength is their passing game, and our biggest weakness is our pass defense. I don't think that any type of offensive scheme would have allowed us to win that game. Not to mention that there is no denying that Tashard Choice is our biggest offensive weapon(regardless of who the coach was, he still would be the best offensive player on our team) and BC had the nation's fourth ranked rush defense. Sometimes a team matches up in such a way that they are just better than you, and no amount of gameplanning can fix it. I don't think there was any way we could have won the BC game.

I think we should be 6-1 right now, but I don't feel like are missing out on a chance to seriously contend for the national title like I felt last year. The loss of Kenny Scott hit us harder than I thought it would, and the loss of Calvin hit us just as hard as I thought it would(say what you want about our ineffective pass offense, he was still a massive offensive threat for us).

True, secondary was shelled, But many of those down field pass plays were set up by hitting the TE's over and over.

VERY accurate- look what Miami tried to do. If KW could complete a pass we would have lost by 14.

Or SEC is marginal at best aside of tackleing. JT and Gailey know this - "IF you get to the QB before WR get open" our DBs are bailed out.

Dude, you are the worst speller EVER.
