Yep. IIRC watching from my perch in Upper East, that was after stadium remodel. I remember folks carrying them up and throwing them over the fences by the Wardlaw building. Auburn's band was in the south-east corner of the stadium.

I thought 96 UVA? I remember the students carrying the post down to the Campanile... one guy brought a portable circular saw and started cutting the pole into pieces for ppl to take. Good times.

Don’t think that’s correct. I never see them automatically go down.

They aren't automatic. They're just hinged. You'll see staff lower them at the end of the game with polls.

The auburn tear down happened right in front of me. I wanted to hop that rail in uniform so bad.
