Tech drops out of AP poll

Not so sure about that. Miami is back and I think they're definitely deserving of their rank after beating both us and then FSU on the road

Washington isn't bad either. They'd played well against LSU

I don't think Miami is going to turn out to be a top notch team, but we'll have to wait and see.
As for their wins against us and FSU, if the situation were reversed, i.e, we had our first two wins against FSU and Miami, I think we'd be crowing.

We'll be fine, as DerrtyTree said, but I wonder why USC drops to right outside the top 10 after losing to a team that went winless last year, but we lose to a decent team and go completely unranked. I would have at least thought we would've been 24th or 25th. Let's just play, win, and the rest will fall into place. Go Jackets!

To be fair, we're first or second out of the poll...not much difference between that and 24th or 25th.

They've got one hell of a QB which is the main thing a college football team needs. Unless they have injuries, I'd take them right now, straight up against anyone on their schedule except OK. And given how they started the year, I might take them in that one too.

Am I the only one though who feels FSU still being ranked is a bit of a joke? I think BYU is a tad overrated. The Oklahoma win was a fluke, and FSU ALSO lost to Miami(AT HOME), and BARELY(i think even had to come from behind) a I-AA school(Jax St) that WE beat pretty handly.

I think once out of the top 10 or even 5-the polls are a bit irelivent.

We've only played two decent halves of football this season and have been manhandled the last half of the Clemson game and all of the Miami game. The pollsters got it correct.

Wait, what?

So now we're 2-1 with our only loss to a top 10 team.

We drop completely and Miami moves into the top 10 for beating us?

I'm seriously starting to lose faith. Although the hurt that FSU put on BYU probably helps Miami's 2-0 record look good.

You have a future as a Sports Information Director. :laugher: It is definitely a good spiel to say we are 2-1 with our only loss to a top 10 opponent, but being a Thursday nite game, too many voters actually watched and may have also seen us against Clempsen. We were demolished in Miami. I never saw even a glimpse of anything resembling excellence. Usually, even in a loss some of your playmakers shine here and there. BeBe Thomas long catch was okay, but it was in garbage time and it was only after some bad misses were on the tape--when it counted.

First off, I don't give a crap about polls this early. Teamwise, I'm glad we aren't in the polls. I hope the team doesn't care about ranking to begin with, but I know they hear these things, so maybe this will solidify how sucky our performance was in their minds. We'll need to come out ready against UNC.

That aside, I thought we would be 20-25 range. I don't get it; everyone sucks da U's weiner and puts them in the top 10 and yet, it doesn't work the other way. Admittedly, we did get rocked, but I don't understand being dropped completely.

We don't deserve to be ranked. I'm glad we dropped out. We certainly don't look like a team that could (for instance) beat Georgia right now.

Miami deserves their top 10 ranking --unlike the Alabama's, Ohio State's, Florida's. etc.. UM has actually defeated two top 20 teams to get where they are.

I despise UM, but whatever --glad to see an ACC team in the top 10.

As for Tech --dropped out of the rankings and deservedly so. What have we done other than threaten to run Clemson out of BDS, only to fall behind before pulling the game out.

Beat UNC and GT will be right back in the top 25. Then comes the October stretch of the schedule where GT will have the opportunity to vault itself back into the top 15.

I think we are where we should be --just on the outside, but closely looking in.

We can(and should) beat UNC at home.

and if we do we'd have beat a team that we lost to last year and lost to one we beat, so we'd be right back on schedule to match what we did last year with the opportunity to better it still very intact

That's potentially though. We still have the problem of looking completely hopeless/clueless for most of the last 6 quarters.

This shows how much the media wants Miami to succeed, and how little they care about our success. They are willing to put Miami on a fast track up and us on a fast track down. Which, is why I do not want to see Miami "back". It's good for the ACC but bad for Georgia Tech. They want to rank Miami. They rank us when they have to.
