Tech Kickers

If the staff couldn’t properly develop position players, what makes anyone think they could’ve developed specialists? Knowing what I know now, I’m not surprised. I hope the trend is broken in the first game with a game ending winning FG (50 yards) against Clemson.
You mean the staffs, right? This started under CPJ and continued through CGC.

That stat is just the new Charlottesville curse.

As I wouldn't give up '90 for the next 19 years of heartbreak, I'll take my lumps on this one for '14.

Our kicking since '19 has been true dog öööö tho.

incoming frosh aidan birr boomed 54 of his 79 kickoffs for touchbacks ....
but he's out for the year
I hope he recovers but I doubt he’ll ever kick for GT. He’ll probably transfer after receiving free medical care at GT.

Well, there are a lot of things that factor in the number of 40+ yrd fg’s made.

First, a good offense is going to have few fg in general. And when they do kick a fg, it will be shorter. Then there is the whole number of possessions component. Game shortening offenses like CCG and CPJ have fewer offensive opportunities in general. Finally, there is a huge difference in a 40 yd fg and a 53 yd fg. We seem to be kicking a lot of desperation fg lately (as a percentage of overall fg attempts, which is also down) b

In three years, we've lost exactly three games by three points or fewer.

Football coaches don’t really develop kickers. They may put them in pressure situations during practice… but it’s not like Collins would be spending a lot of time critiquing leg path on these guys.
