Tech lands John Drew (DT- 6'3, 295)

Rivals is reporting we just picked up Joh Drew, a DT from Northside Columbus GA

So that makes 3 defensive linemen already for the 2009 class, 2 of which are huge DTs. When have we ever been able to say that?

welcome aboard John Drew!

Do we have some great coaches, or what? :D

Since Scout started tracking recruits (2002) we've never had a commit before April. Now we've got 3 in February.

Next year's class could be massive. We'll have, what 30 schollies to give next year?

Yeah, but we can only sign 25 unless some kids want to enroll early and count against the 2008 total.

Well lets hope some do. Sounds like next years recruiting class is off to an excellant start.

If we can shore up 25 solid recruits, get about 3 guys in early against this year's cap, and still have "early enrollment" room after next year's graduates move on, that'd be outstanding. We could emerge from probation like a friggin steamroller.

Chris Jackson committed to us in december of 2006. But since he didn't end up signing with us, I guess you are partially correct.

The team quartermaster or whatever he's called better have a backup to Sysco or whatever commercial food provider they use - wouldn't want to be caught short.

Hmm, somebody better start a fund to pay for the heavy duty shocks we are going to need for the buses to carry these guys around:D

Juniors in high school. How do they get so large so fast? :eek5:

And to think all these guys are 17 and 18 years old. You've got to think one or two of them will grow another inch or two and all will add wieght in the form of muscle.

Damn!

If they can enroll early, they'll definitely be putting on some weight before the '09 season starts. Helluva start for their recruiting class. Doing big things in '09!

Actually the coaches will be taking weight off of Lanier...then building him back up a bit.

John Drew is fine.

Dieke will need to add about 50-60 lbs.

It is great to see kids with these frames and skill level coming to the Flats. This should continue to be an excellent recruiting year.

And THIS is what is going to be seriously helping our depth. The ability to start having more guys RS and get really ready to play.

Be careful. Don't get carried away!

Fact is....we only have 14 schollarship seniors on the roster for next fall.

We have ABOUT 77 total players on schollarship for this year......8 below the limit.

14 plus 8 = 22......meaning, there will have to be more attrition just to get to the 25 YEARLY limit.

They will likely not get to redshirt...they will have to play while they are being molded.

Unless Peters moves inside, we only have 3 DT's on roster when Lanier and Drew arrive.

Ben Anderson Jr-R
Logan Wall- So-R
TJ Barnes- Fr-R or So
