Tech 'Way Behind' in Facilities

Pretty silly and child-like for CPJ to be making these comments publicly. Even if it's something he believes, don't say it in public. Not to mention CPJ not really in position to make demands.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but for once, I'm siding with diseqc on this one.

CPJ probably knew Mbob was on his way out beforehand

Obviously 4 years of wiffle ball and laser tag >>> a GT degree.

For at least 4 years, 18 to 21 year olds might think it is a factor in their life. It is not reasonable for people to expect a younger person to, every damn minute of their life, sit around and think how great the possibility is for them 50 years from now.

And now with the second AD in his tenure gone, CPJ best produce this year or we need to decide if we want to participate or go Georgetown.

What happened to the allure of having a Tech degree?

serious or no?

I'll bite, but a kid who has as 2.0 gpa and 850 SAT could care a less about college degrees....The kids who value the tech degree are generally the ones we get ...so the allure is there. The problem is, that is rarely the top recruits...Just read all the 2016 freshman articles Ken did this offseason...they all state the tech degree...

you know, I think you are on to something. If this year doesn't go well, on top of a new AD in town...he is on the hot seat.

but my guess is we go 8-4.

We need to have subwoofers with plexiglass installed all over the player lounges and in the weight room. Every HS kid loves bass...no matter what type of music they listen to.

Simple and relatively inexpense.

HS kids are all about that bass no treble

Interesting times we live in... MBob basically got called to the mat. I think we have to be careful on this because:
- We won't get what Alabama has. They spent way too much on those upgrades. They're nice, but in all seriousness, there are some pro teams with "lesser" facilities.
- Clemson is newly rich. The theme park is great, but we that's not practical for Tech.
- Were we to do that kind of thing, it would cost 2-3 times as much because we would have to relocate dorms, academic buildings, etc. plus, we are in downtown, where real estate is very expensive.
- I think we can leverage the fact that we are in Atlanta. Use that and have the town market for you. Turner, the movie business, the hall of fame... Leverage what you DO have that they don't.

Leverage being in Atlanta? Perhaps, but that could have been done decades ago. Opponents, which are more than our 1, probably leverage that against us.

Crap or get off pot. We need to win. That is what works. And winning does not mean vs. UVA, Pitt, puke, gsu or mercer. Those should be givens. 14-24 vs big 5, and 58% overall is not winning. 2nd AD gone in 9 years.

If any really care, start holding coach and Prez responsible.

I know that when one of my employees who is coming off a worst job performance in 20+ years starts making demands, I really give a öööö what they want at work.

Then again, when you find yourself non-competitive in the marketplace; maybe listening to employees ideas of how to return to success in the market is a reasonable approach.

I'm not saying passively walk them around town showing them what's here. I'm saying have programs and things that get the kids involved in those things that Atlanta is. If you can get a few of those 4 and 5 stars to flip here, we add probably 5 wins against UGA in those close games over the past two decades. The wins against those other teams come as well. We aren't far off from those wins with a little more talent than we have.

Not that I'd fault the kids we have, they're our warriors and they chose Tech...

unless you believe that employee is directly responsible for your non-competiviness on the field.

...and in the fundraising department.

Funny that he makes comments like this, when they've been begging him for years to step up and he refuses to do so.

"From one athletic department donor: “The culture has changed. It became more of a me-first place as opposed to the student-athletes coming first, or as opposed to, ‘We’re all in this together.’ If a guy like Bill Curry had been hired, when you think about his personality and his leadership style, that’s what’s missing right now. An inspirational leader.”

It’s no secret there was a chasm between Bobinski and Johnson, who was hired by Radakovich. Bobinski clearly had designs on firing Johnson in 2014 until consecutive upsets over Clemson and Georgia. Only then, awkwardly, was Johnson offered a contract extension."

Wow

Wow
I saw that too. This guy wasn't ready for the big leagues. Bungled a firing to contract extension. Extended the contract of the BBall coach, then fired him the next season... I hope they get this hire right...

It's more than not being ready for the big leagues. He gave an extension and then fired him the next year after his best season. How does that ever happen?

Best season record wise may not have translated into best season revenue wise :dunno:
