Tech\'s next coach plays its old coach today

Navy's Paul Johnson, a probable (and excellent) replacement for Gailey in the near future plays Bobby Ross's Army team today at 2:30.

Johnson is a proven winner at the college level with strong ties to Georgia. He took the Navy job only days before Gailey came to Tech. Who could have guessed he would turn Navy's program around so fast? Tech football fans may want to watch this game for several reasons.

Gailey's not going anywhere. If Johnson's such a great coahc, then how come ND or FL hasn't hired him?

Re: Tech\'s next coach plays its old coach today

I would have a winning record against Navy's schedule. Johnson may be a fine coach but his greatest strength is in following a total failure in Weatherby.

Could you win a I-AA National Championship too? As long as you are comparing your skills to PJ... let us know.

It's funny how some of you guys who are cutting on Johnson now will be kissing his butt in a year or so.

Please go cheer for someone else if you are so happy.

Navy has PLENTY of extra seats available...and you will make Tech fans much happier.

Re: Tech\'s next coach plays its old coach today

Why is that? Are you the AD at GT? Are you going to fire CG and hire Johnson?

yes his schedule is weak, but the talent of football players that he is able to get at navy is less than or equal to the talent of those teams he faces. and he is still able to win. so your point is invalid.

give him a GT schedule and give him GT caliber talent and he would still win

Now, BDG, on what do you base..............

your thoughts????? Maybe you are 100% correct. Maybe, however you are wrong; and if you are wrong, you are a trouble maker....

Man, Paul Johnson's Navy team is looking pretty good. Beating one's rival 3 years in a row must be a sweet feeling.

BDG, okay, good Tech buddy, supporter,......

and friend.
But we are where we are, and we all should support and make the best of that position..... You are a Tech supporter and I hope you will come on and get on board........things will work out (for or against each of our wishes).........let's just get together.

Re: Tech\'s next coach plays its old coach today

What's invalid about it? So he can win with D-II talent against D-II competition. And he can win at Navy against bacically D-II competition. Chan won a D-II NC didn't he? So what's your point?

Wooo, inside info!

You must really communicate with the Great Beyond, BDG, because you already know that Gailey is going to be fired next year, and Paul Johnson will be our next coach!

One question though, you gypsy charlatan. Why didn't we just fire him this year and hire the Navy coach? What are you? Dave Braine's mistress who hears him talking in his sleep?

I am continually perplexed by the Sampson complex of those who would rather tear the pillars of our football program down than accept that the guy they want to be coach wasn't or isn't hired. Yeah, let's fire Gailey so 1/4 of our team will transfer off, and 3/4 of our commits will run off to somewhere else. And, yeah, what if Paul Johnson is only 6-5 after 3 seasons??? Are you going to can him before he can get his recruiting roots established and his players and system in???

Re: Speaking of ND

Didn't think about that. I doubt ND would be very interested. Imho, they have to go after a BIG name now that they have been rejected.
