Re: Tech\'s next coach plays its old coach today
I see better recruiting to start with. We never got d-lineman like we're getting in now. NEVER. D.Richard was 6'4 300lbs and valedictorian coming out of HS with over an 1100 SAT score. O'Leary said that there were none that could make it at GT. Looks like Gailey is finding them. Add Anoia, Robertson, Wrotto, Newberry, Anyaibe Brown and Oliver. What about Kenny Scott and Rashaun Grant? How about Calvin Johnson and Todd Walker?
O’Leary was quoted as saying that “GT wants to be Harvard during the week and F$U on Saturday’s”. Chan goes into the recruits house and uses GT’s academics as a positive. Every recruit that he goes after says the same thing. “Academics are important to me and that’s why I am considering GT”. He is doing the exact opposite with the “academic crutch” from what O’Leary did. BTW, avg SAT last year was around 1100. How many schools do that?
The defense is doing great and should do better next year with MORE depth. Tenuta isn't going anywhere any time soon.
Recruiting IS going VERY good this year(I won't say great unless we are in the Top 10). We're in it on a BUNCH of blue-chip athletes and making in-roads in the southeast HS's. From Alabama, Georgia, Texas and FL. I don't think we've every gotten a player from Hawkinsville. But, Giff Smith goes down and gets our latest recruit(verbal committment). Avery Atkins(number 3 safety prospect on Scout.com) says that Coach Geis is cool and Kenny Scott is his homeboy. We're also looking at 2 other players in the area that Kenny and Avery are from. They both are considered "blue-chip" prospects. Do I need to mention Mauice Wells and Carlos Thomas?
We're NEVER going to recruit like OK, ugag, LSU, FSU and Miami. The people who think we should are not realistic. I don't care WHO we have as coach. This staff is looking for the kids that can make it at GT first. That is the first criteria when they start looking at the 6-7000 kids every year. It takes time to go into a HS and start plucking 4 and 5 star kids out of there regularly. Stability is what GT has to have as a "Program". No matter who the coach is. Look at the past and see. If O'Leary would have been a great coach to keep, I wish he would have stayed. But he didn't and he also had his short-commings like Gailey does. They are both great men, it's just some were against Gailey from the start and won't give him the same amount of time that O'Leary was given. Go read the article on the GT Sports Blog about the GT "influential alum" almost ran off Hewitt after 3 years. Man, they are looking stupid right now.
You've only given Gailey 3 years and 2 recruiting classes. His record is VERY simular to O'Leary's in his first 3 years. You act like he has had losing seasons every year he's been here. Bottom line is, Gailey isn't going anywhere next year and probably not the next either. Why bitch and moan about it at every chance you get? Is that constructive? It's being destructive. Whinning and complaiing about it isn't going to change anything. Why not get behind the "team"? Read the post from the tutor and see what the players said about Booing? I guess because you pay your money to go to the game, you're allowed to boo if you want to. It's not the NFL where the players are getting paid. Yes, the coaches are and I see improvemnt. Are there still mistakes? Hell yes! Are the kids still 18-22? Hell yes! Are the coaches still human? Hell yes! Am I happy about them? Hell no!
Do you still make mistakes, or are you perfect all the time?
Gailey is doing the things the right way, the GT way off the field. Why not give him the 4 or 5 years and quit complaning ALL the time?
You're little group over at BuzzOff will agree with you everytime. Why post it over here? Post it over there and you won't get nothing but "pat's on the back". They all agree with you over there. Right? Is it just to stir up trouble? You know people are not going to agree with you, just like peepad and statelinedog won't agree with me if I posted over there.
